Who in the hell suggested this drug :mad:. Never used as 1st line treatment for ADHD has serious side effects until and unless the patient primarily suffers from bipolar disorder also having symptoms of ADHD and then also added to primary treatment of Bipolar never used as 1st line.

Always try methylphenidate, dextroamphetamine and then atomoxetine but never ever ever risperidone(vepridone) first.

Risperidone and other antipsychotics will reduce the anger issues and mood disruptions in ADHD patients but will never improve concentration and hyperactivity the two main problems. However if it is added to a child whose anger is not being controlled with methylphenidate or atomoxetine then it makes some sense but still for anger issues valproate(epival) or carbamazepine can be tried.

Get a second opinion from a good child or general psychiatrist either it is ADHD or some other psychiatric disease.

If you cannot find anyone try him at least he will give you a good suggestion Dr. Amer Ikram Doctors hospital lahore.

Thanks dear, he was first given persch & zexa but later changed to vepridone.

Zexa is memantine and persch is similar to vepridone that is risperidone, see the name written in bracket below brand name that what the drug contains.

Next time you go to your doctor ask, some doctor was asking why didn't you try methylphenidate or atomoxetine first. FDA has still not approved antipsychotics for ADHD treatment.

I would be waiting what she says may be it might increase my knowledge.

I will still advise you to get a second opinion.

Melatonin for sleep is fine.

Thank you sir, sure I would like to ask her same. We went to her on recommendation of our child specialist who first discovered signs of ADHD and somewhat autism related as my son lacked eye contact since very young age.
We though as she is professor so will give good advice
I will be thankful if you can recommend someone. I will also visit doctors hospital.
My son is now 4 years and main issue is hyperactivity and anger. His speech therapy is being done from Lahore Children Center and is showing remarkable improvement in speech recovery but ADHD is not being controlled yet.

Well sir now you told in detail which has cleared my misconception about your child, sorry if I was a little harsh then your psychiatrist is looking on the right path.

This is mainly Autism spectrum disorder with some influence of ADHD like symptoms. For this case now I can say risperidone is good but epival(valproate) or carbamazepine can also be tried for hyperactivity and anger. For Speech yes main thing is speech therapy. So again your diagnosis is autism spectrum disorder with ADHD like symptoms so in such a case there is no fixed drug methylphenidate or atomoxetine can be tried along with the drugs I mentioned above, so treatment is basically is trial and error method we use drugs which suits the particular patient best. Not like pure ADHD in which 1st we use methylphenidate and atomoxetine and then some other drugs.

Hence we usually treat autism cases mainly under supervision of psychiatrist and neurologist so take advice from neurologist I told.

I was looking for some good neurologist. Went to one in gulberg but was told that he does not check autism related children so I think if your told doc can check him then it will be awesome...
Any idea how long he will take to become normal?

Cannot tell how long it will take to become normal it varies from patient to patient and obviously its a specialists job. What you can do is call the reception and ask if the particular doctor deals in autism and ADHD cases. But I am definite that he will see this patient and try to help you, as in the US such cases are very common and hence US neurologists are trained for these cases.

Both Dr. Amer and Dr. Moquit are really good depends who is nearer to you and who is easily available.

Dont know about islamabad. It is very difficult to find and you have to have a valid prescription only form a neurologist or psychiatrist for it, not your regular general physician and if any of your relative is in US or UK or australia recommending you this medication, his prescription will also work. Its a highly controlled substance in karachi even you can only buy from AKU.

hepatitis A igG means you had a previous infection or vaccinated against hep a thats why its positive it confers immunity, and hence stays positive throughout life. for diagnosing hepA recent infection hepA igM antibody is done.

hepatitis C antibody is positive(reactive) or negative(non reactive) depending on the value if it says footnote read what is written underneath if the values fall in the positive or negative category. Secondly it might say weak or intermediate positive. In that case next step is to get a HCV RNA PCR done.

It would be better if you can share the report online or PM me for further explanation. As I am sure about my explanation for HepA, but for HepC that footnote thing you wrote needs interpretation on what is written in the footnote in the report so I explained but cannot be sure about HepC result without seeing it.

The report is perfectly fine with no concerns at all. The footnote is just a reminder for us physicians that a negative doesnt really mean negative if the patient is still having symptoms of liver disease. Since hep c has a window period in its course of development during which nothing shows up in blood so for strong suspicion we go for a specific test. But in your case all is ok. And stay happy.
As for hep a, you have been guided well already.
