yes - the electric solenoids provide the 2 shifts required when in D - you cannot use a toyota unit as the logic drive is not compatible, try finding a half cut cultus automatic - when I did a simulator build project in Karachi I bough 20 cultus dashboards from scrap (black colour items) and about 3 or 4 of them had the TCU - its found slightly above the glovebox in the cultus dashboard panel, its wiring is 2 plugs from the top and it also has its own diagnosis green plug laying right there about 6 inches from the main wiring plugs.
I had no use of the TCUs - so I returned them back to the vendor - telling him what it actually was. Some people imported some used JDM suzuki cultus and subaru justy with the old G10 engine but had throttle body injection all of them were automatic - if you ask around you might find a car like that and maybe the owner swapped the transmission for a manual because the auto had no overdrive hence used more fuel.
