First of all, your initiative deserves all the praise one can muster. Truly, FAR OUT!!

While going through your thread I came across this post of yours mentioning the 3F-E. Sir, would you be kind enough to share the price, source and if its not too much to ask, maybe a few photos and a video of the engine idling?

I am myself an owner of a 91' FJ70 and 'he' is indeed my pride and joy. I do all my work myself and love this motor, the 3F. But I admit that a computer's ability to tune the air/fuel mixture far surpasses mine to tune a carb. All the same, I have it running nicely with none of those typical 2F/3F carb complaints and beautiful tan/rust colored spark plugs coming out every time i change them.

However, a carb can limit offroad go in some situations, where a fuel injected vehicle faces no problems. For instance, steep grades and side angles.

So, even though it might never happen, owing to the sheer love of my 3F, I was just looking for a feel on its fuel injected sibling just to weigh out the prospect of such a swap.

Sorry if I indulged in too much verbosity, I always tend to do so when discussing this boy. Looking forward to your reply.

What a topic you have opened. First of all thank you. 3F yup an amazing engine,a mixture of speed & strength. Coming to my FJ it took me 8+ months to ride it from the first point of start when I brought it home toed .it had nothing at all, just a body and that’s it with an F engine which was dead since years and didn’t even had a single wire in it. Choosing an engine was a deadly period, with many screaming counsels from every side. I live in Quetta and the inclination here is Gasoline everywhere. And I am a great follower of petrol throughout my life. Certainly my 1[SUP]st[/SUP] choice was final. Here in Quetta wiring and electrician is a huge issue, that’s why bought a 3f carb machine and started installation but as you said the news of bugging of carb engine during steep climbs came across and I stopped everything just a few days before the test run. Eventually we started it and gave it a trial run, it gave me a nice smooth feeling but in just a few days that particular problem hit me in the back very badly on our first off-roading climb. Ok now the price and difference of Quetta market. Any 6 cylinder engine which fits any FJ would be over priced then pindi, Lahore or Peshawar. Specially the 3fs are hot favorite of the “gorazees” the smugglers who uses it in Fj pickups and drive it like flying horses. 3f carb cost me 2.15 and then when I exchanged it with the electronic it finally cost me around 3.75 just the engine. An uphill task of wiring almost ruined my everything. But it took me bumper to bumper wire up-gradations starting from Quetta and ending in khi. The injectors to me are magician sitting in your hood and continuously giving your jeep an extra kick with his magic wand. Especially in the curves and climbs. FJ70 and 3f-f would be certainly a attractive combo but I think a quality engine is hard to find and the parts are harder to find. Unfortunately I don’t have any extra pics with me now ‘cause the Jeep is long gone from my hands some 2 years ago and someone told me that its running somewhere in the north with an engine swap and the entire setup is gone because of the parts and that the guy didn’t own any petrol stationJ. For you the best part is that you do all your work yourself, well I don’t think that it would be difficult for you to handle it once your work is complete and jeep runs once. I forgot one thing, one mechanic did something to the petrol tank and the fuel lines and it gave me no problem after that but I was badly bitten by the injector keeras if you still need more of it please send me your number in my mail box, we’ll talk about it even if you need something from here. Thats really sad. Had it not been so, i think it would have been quite a rarity on our roads.

As for the prices, you are right, they are on the higher side compared to the ones we have here on the plains, but then again, I have yet to see a 3F-E lying around somewhere in these parts. Came across some EFI conversion kits online but they were simply too expensive ex-works that after all the freight, they would simply not be able to out weigh the cost. So I gues ill be sticking to my trusty old 3F. Seeing an enthusiast on the other end of this message, here is some eyecandy for you. This was after sorting out alot of little gremlins that it finally started running the way i wanted it to. Let me know what you think.

Also, have you come across any 75 series pickup in your area? Whats the availability of the 1HZ diesel powered 3 -doors? These are vehicles that I would love to own but dont really have them going around here. There was this one add I remember, from Quetta of a soft top 3 door HZJ70 diesel. Dont know where that went. Kept searching afterwards but the ones that did come up were NCP vehicles. Please advise me on this subject too. Cheers!!
