Today I am going to travel to Quetta from Karachi, I need help regarding hotels in Quetta. Any economical and safe area hotels in Quetta do u know about?

Help in this regard will be highly appreciated guys..

Though I'm not familiar with hotels or their location in Quetta except Serena and Lourdes which may be the most expansive here but I just wanted to tell you that it is generally safe in Quetta. You can stay anywhere roam around in markets. Saryab road area is kind of troubled area other than that no major issues. If we go on how media portrays a picture than for me karachi is more unsafe than Quetta.

Actually ur right about Quetta being safe than Karachi. I have to take bus from Sohrab Goth Karachi for Quetta which is being delayed since last night due to Karachi's situation. Hopefully today evening will be better.

At the end of jinnah road there is saleem complex and universal complex. There u can find good and economical hotels. There is also an Al Abid hotel on main prince road. If u can afford high then no better than Lourdes and Serena Hotels.

Ok just got back from Quetta !

Let me tell u what I did.

I had to appear in an Interview at BUITEMS Quetta. I chose Sada Bahar Coach Service as its the best in my opinion. By paying 1400Rs ticket for 2 by 1 i.e. in each line there are 3 seats instead of traditional 4 seats hence giving you lot of space to relax and sleep as its 12 hours journey from Sohrab Goth Karachi to Sada Bahar Bus Terminal, Saryab Road, Quetta.

There are 2 timings that bus leave from Karachi to Quetta and Quetta to Karachi that are:
7:00 AM Morning (Booking time is 6:00AM)
7:00 PM Evening (Booking time is 6:00PM)

I chose 7:00PM Friday evening time as I had to appear at interview by 9:00AM Saturday Morning.

Bus ride takes atleast 12 hours. As I was in hurry and for those bachelor kind of people Sada Bahar Bus Terminal Quetta has a hotel as well, we were 2 friends and we opted for 2 Bed Room which cost us Rs.700/= for 24 Hours. REMEMBER checkout time is 2:00PM.

Rooms are fine, as per my policy if you want to see someone home or hotel about how they take care of it , see the bathrooms :D.

After getting ready we hired a taxi from Bus Terminal to BUITEMS Takatu Campus and it cost us Rs.400/=.

After interview we travelled from Campus to Quetta city through local bus whose fare was Rs.15/= per person. From city we hired a Rickshaw to Bus Terminal (back to hotel) which cost us Rs. 100/=.

In Quetta usually Saryab Road is troubled one as mentioned by fellow member here already. But Sada Bahar Terminal is secured by private gaurds and we felt safe there for sometime.

We had our booking that evening for Karachi in same fare for 2 by 1 seat bus. And it took 12 hours to reach Sohrab Goth Karachi.

Important Point:
Always take your lunch or dinner with you when leaving for Quetta to Karachi as the restaurent where the bus stops has worst of foods you will even taste.
While coming back always be prepared as they from Quetta to Khuzdar there is no stop i.e. 7 Hours of ride which means if in evening u leave Quetta at 7:00PM u will reach restaurent/stop at around 1:00AM.

hygiene condition of the bus?

Why are you so sure that Sada Bahar provides with the best servcie? I mean do you have experience with others also?
Phone numbers?

Bus ticket can be bought from Sohrab Goth at there respective stops.
As far as my experience buses are very well neat and clean.
Jouney start from Sohrab Goth for Sada Bahar unlike Al-Aziz and few others which start from Old-Subzi Mandi or Yousuf Goth. Sada Bahar after departing from Sohrab Goth has a 15 minute stop at Yousuf Goth.
Will let you know the numbers once I get to home.

My experience with Sada Bahar has been good, reason is conditional. In my scenario I had to choose the fastest option instead of best option. Al-Aziz coaches are good as well but they drop you at Yousuf Goth and depart from Old-Sabzi Mandi Karachi. In my case coming from Hyderabad Sohrab Goth was best option hence Sada Bahar buses.

If you are going to use ATM Machine in Quetta than do remember to use it BEFORE 10PM else all of them get closed. and if you are expecting easy paisa than tell them to send you before 9:00PM after that shops get closed.

Try not to roam around city after 11:00PM.

Punjabi Speaking People are strictly prohibited but if you somehow have to go than try to learn few sindhi words as well.

While at Yousuf Bus Terminal at Saryab Road Quetta, atleast 3 person came to me asking me if I was Urdu or Punjabi and my reply was in Sindhi :S

I dont know if that has happened to other people but in my case this thing has happened to me.

Remember to book your hotels in mornings or late till 3:00PM after that all hotels get booked during JUNE and JULY.

If you are intending you live for only 12 hours in hotel, dont tell the hotel manager or whoever there is on counter, else they will count you 24 hours money in 12 hours and also book your room to someone else after 12 hours. Always tell them you are going to stay full 24 hours.

very pertinent points. There was recent target killing of 10-13 people who were waiting on some bus stand as i heard the news. They were a few punjabis and rest were hazara-ites

I'm not taking any sides here but there is an element of racism throughout pakistan. It is more prominent in rural areas and among people with lesser qualification. For examples you can start from Sunni / Shia and ends with sindhi, balochi, punjabi and pathan. In between there is pothwari, saraiki, hindko, etc, etc , etc

I spent some 3 years in nothern areas and the locals mostly addressed the outsiders as Pakistanis which really felt odd initially as our whole nation is suffering due to this kashmir issue and fully in support of them; yet, those who are the effectees dislike us. But when you see their culture their suffering, poverty and denial of rights and opportunities (a long discussion) then the situation starts settling in its frame.

there were areas in Nothern areas where we felt un-safe and as the poster said like wise we had an unknown fear and alertness in such areas. A local might not understand but wandering in troubled areas of another city does not make one comfortable.

It is my wish and prayer that we become mature enough to consider ourselves as just simple Pakistani and Muslims ... nothing more and nothing less.

I hope i've not hurt anyones feeling nor do i want to initiate a heated debate just to convey a simple message of Pakistaniat

Tciket was 1200, 1400 and 1800... I think i'll choose the 1800 one.. I hope the bus is comfortable!

btw, can we charge our mobile/laptop on the coach? (it's 24 seater "luxury". lols. the 1800 one). Should I even take my laptop?

And when I asked about "halaat", bus wala guy said Khi is more unsafe than quetta.. here more people are killed than dogs.. sad may allah give us peace

I wouldnt recommend you take laptop with you as its 12 hours journey. Yes do charge your mobile/IPOD if you intend to get yourself entertained. There is no CHARGING service available on BUS.

24 Seater should be more comfortable but remember travelling alone is gonna get very boring so take a good collection of songs/movies on your mobile/ipod if you cant sleep while travelling. Its 12 Hours of travel. Do let us know about your travel in detail once to get back.

About halat, I would advise you to get away from Saryab road as soon as possible.

A bunch of thanks brother for the information. This is very helpful. Sohrab Goth suits me too and I do not want to go to Yousuf Goth even by shuttle, so this is more feasible.
