@xulfiqar hope you are well. Friend got myself a new proj. CL7 K20A. Was planing to get its radiator clean because there was some rust type buildup in reservoir. but after reading manual i saw that removing the thermostat valve is PITA as it is below the Intake Manifold and with no workable room. (if i am not wrong) Can I do Citric Acid Flush without removing the thermostat valve. I can understand that huge volume of citric water will remain and may require some 5-6 times water change before it may be gone completely. What do you suggest any easy way?

its a pain to remove that thermostat, but if you are comfortable with flushing multiple times then no problem, make sure you use hot water to flush (connect pipe from hot water outlet)

There seems to be another problem. See once i flushed everything. Now it is time to add coolant. Considering the fact that thermostat valve would be closed when i remove water from radiator and no matter what certain amount of water will remain inside engine block with thermo closed, what can we do about it?

only one or two models of the K20 engine have a drain for the coolant on the block, one can however find out the whole system capacity, then put exactly half of conc. coolant in there and top it up with plain water again. The engine will start and mix everything up for you.

But make sure that you clean out all acidic water first.

in D engines there is a coolant drain bolt at the edge of the block near the bell housing, its facing the front of the car and is pretty large bolt head made of aluminium, if you remove that you will drain the block. You will need to drain the radiator separate and then remove both heater core connections, open the heater valve and blow air through it to purge out, the heater cannot drain itself as its a U shape and liquid settles in it.

Topping up with plain water ?? Won't that dilute the coolant (since its already 1:1 diluted)

Is it safe to open the drain bolt which is located near the engine oil filter on block in my civic 99 having d16y5 engine for removing the coolant from block?

Many people are discussing here it is difficult to open and when open then coolant will leak out from that drain bolt? Is this philosophy right?

Right now I am using Honda genuine type 2 coolant but for future I am thinking to use ZIC Coolant. What do you think Which is better honda coolant or ZIC coolant?

Is it better to shift from honda type 2 coolant to ZIC Coolant?
