Radiator/Cooling system flush DIY of Honda Civic 8th Gen

Nice.. This is one of the best coolant available locally. Even better lubrication properties for the water pump than toyota genuine... Im using this in my cuore and im completely satisfied.
Tip- Always prepare coolant in a big bottle of water and measure the quantity going in before putting it in.

Bro isn't that thing for kitchen use , to me its like putting 7up in radiator instead of water. I think u should not put that in radiator

Please dont use max powder u'll ruin the radiator as it will stuck in radiator wall, the powder will block and deposit in between radiator core and fins

Alright bros here it is.

A few things i got.

Silicon for the thermostat valve seal. Dont be kanjoos like me and get a new seal as it is recommended.

Citric Acid AKA Tatri.

Coolant

Water collected from A/C.

Removed the radiator cap. Look how the rust particles are enjoying their swim in pathetic Osaka coolant.

Removed water bottle.

Put a tray below the radiator and opened the drain cover to collect coolant.

Opened these two nuts to remove the wire harness clip from the thermostat valve cover.

Removed the upper hose. Here the story of rust and salt unfolds. This is the result of previous owner using tap water.

After removing both hoses, i opened these two nuts to open the thermostat cover. The other nut is below and not visible in the picture.

Gently wiggled it out.

The condition of lower hose connector. Too much calcium and salt deposits.

Took the water hose and flushed the block and radiator with water to remove the existing coolant.

Cleaned the thermostat valve, and cleaned the hose connectors by scraping with knife and sandpaper.

Everything put back except the thermostat to flush with citric acid.

The citric acid solution.

Poured it in and ran the engine for 5 minutes then turned it off. Opened the radiator drain and voila....!!! Honey came out.

Flushed the system 3 times with plain water until the gunk cleared and water started to come out clean. Waited for 15 minutes between intervals to let the engine cool down.

Opened the Thermostat cover and installed the cleaned out thermostat and fit back everything.

@Xulfiqar Do i need to run baking soda after i run tatri in the system ? And for how long should i run the citric acid ? Another thing, I got the USDM civic service manual and it say to drain coolant from engine head by removing a big bolt in front of the head. But in my car that bolt does not exist....!!!!

dont worry about that, just use the radiator drain and some assistance like a garden water pipe.

Slowly poured the coolant mixture until it started spilling. Then started the car and waited till the fans came then shut down the engine and poured more coolant.

Cleaned the reservoir bottle and filled with coolant.
