Salaam to all I was reading this post and decided to explain the functions of the thermostat valve, electrical fan and mechanical fan and I will also tell you the advantage and disadvantage of keeping the fan direct or automatic as well the thermostat valve ok so let's start with function of the T-valve
To get the best performance from the engine you should keep the temperature of the engine between 76°c to 92°c depending on the size and design of the engine the most common range is 88°c to 92°c max so you can get the best performance out of the engine like acceleration, torque, fuel consumption etc. etc. In order to keep the temperature in that range they use thermostat valve the job of the valve is to stop the flow of the water in the engine so the engine can reach to its optimal performance temperature like I said 88°c to 92°c when the engine reaches to 92°c thermostat valve open and release the water so it can flow through the radiator now the T valve is open and water circulate in the engine with the help of the water pump(water body) through the radiator but still the temperature will keep rising now here is your radiator fans come in as soon the temperature reaches just over 92°c and your fan switch kicks on the radiator fan to bring the temperature down to its minimum range so that's how your cooling system works and keeps the engine temperature between 80 to 90°c to give you its best performance.
ADVANTAGES OF THE VALVE AND AUTO FAN
Good acceleration (pickup)
Better fuel economy
Better engine life
More km in service (like oil change or tune up)
Now if you only remove the valve what will happen the water will keep circulate in the engine and the temperature will take more then long to come in the range of it's best performance till then you will not have any advantages that I have told you earlier.
DISADVANTAGES OF KEEPING THE FAN DIRECT
Not gonna get the peak performance of the engine
Bad fuel economy
Low engine life
Low battery life
Low alternator life
Low fan motor life
Early oil change
You need tuneup more often
Heavy fan noise
If we remove the T valve only the engine will take long to give you good performance but if do the fan direct and keep running the fan at all time it will be worst then removing the valve only reason for bad fuel economy if the fan running at all the time it will drain the battery very quick and when the voltage gets down the alternator start generate the current and when this happens the load of the alternator comes on the engine just like AC compressor so you will have lake of power less acceleration the engine take more fuel etc etc everyone knows what happens when you turn on the air con and lemme tell you one thing the alternator put more load on the engine then AC compressor so guys please dont remove the T valve or direct your radiator cooling fan I also saw that someone wrote you dont get different speed in electrical fan that's wrong you do get multi speed fan like dual speed fan and there is also 3 speed fan in newer cars launched after 2012 for same reason if the fan works on full speed the same thing happen it will put more load on tha alternator but if you have multi speed fan the low speed will put less load and the high speed will put more load in diesel engine they use mechanical system it's also called viscous its in between the cooling fan and the pulley its driven by belt the diesel engine works on self detonation that is why its gets hotter more quickly then petrol engine so the fan keeps running in free style as someone said you can even hold with your hand while the engine runs(never do that) because it's just like slow speed fan so engine can be free of load but when the engine is hotter then the normal range the clutch of the fan gets engaged so it can have full speed with engine rpm so guy's please dont listen to any mechanic who tells you to remove the T-valve or to do your vehicle fan direct the car manufacture take years to design and spend millions of dollars to design the it now what you think are they stupid doing that or the mechanic you decide yourself so brothers I tried to explain you from best of my knowledge if anyone think that I'm wrong at any point please do lemme know and sorry in advance if I made any mistakes in writing and yes one more thing if your vehicle getting hotter then normal or having a problem to keep the car in original system then you must check your vehicle there must be something wrong with it and if your vehicle is being import from different country (from colder areas) then you just have to change your radiator with bigger one that's all you should do nothing else and if you need any help regarding your vehicle I'm always open you guy's can contact me on my Whatsapp +27 73 473 7497 (1pm to 2am pak time) I'll be happy to help you
