that is great, i always check the level when my engine is dead cold. I will now periodically check the reservoir bottle at 15 to 20 days time interval.

now it was low in bottle and when car got colder it went up to normal level
but its never empty

Don't want to put Toyota or Zic coolant in my Carby Cultus 2001 as would be changing the radiator soon, is Osaka coolant OK ? I put it in freezer and it did not freeze.. so should I go ahead with it ? if its proven anti-freeze would it be anti-rust too ?

why waste money. add zic atleast, but first ensure there are no leaks. i purchased four bottles of zic. and flushed my radiator in july. till now never opened the radiator. i only check the reservoir bottle.

while flushing i discovered that my metal pipes connecting the hose pipe was blocked as well slightly.

if you are worried about buying it again - you can collect the coolant first from the radiator by draining it and then replace the radiator. Its called standard practice.

If you think your stupid mechanic wont save the coolant - then buy a plastic tub and collect it - if you think buying a tub is a waste of money then find a 4 litre engine oil bottle and cut it from its side and thoroughly clean it with dishwash soap and water. The use it as a drain tub.

refill the coolant into your new radiator.

And errmm i am a beginner kind of and dnt know where is the thermostat valve in my hyundai santro (dnt know even if it is there or not lol) all i can see is this pic below

That big black pipe is radiator's top pipe...

I disconnected the heater pipes and sealed the ends.
will get the new heater then will connect it.

U should open the heater valve from dashboard then flush the system.

goto a mechanic tell him if there is any thermostat valve present or not. if yes remove it. then flush radiator. after flushing install back the thermostat valve

thermostat will block the water circulating through radiator untill your temperature needle reaches half mark

Its been more than 5 months now. I haven't opened the radiator cap. Coolant in reservoir bottle was a little low which i topped, as I still had coolant left at the time of flushing.

After reading and researching many threads and also recommendations by Zulfiqar Bhai. I did a flush to my ALTO radiator.
My Radiator and gas kit were recently replaced 1 month back And i was facing no heat up issues. but deposits of rust were increasing in radiator due water and old rust in reservoir and pipes. This was not acceptable to me as sooner or later it will ruin everything.

So First step was to remove the thermostat valve by removing its flange. The Valve was quite neat and clean as it was recently bought. Then I bought a new flange for Rs 350. Installed the old fan switch in it, applied some silicon (Rs 60) and installed the flange back.

I took a 2.25 liter bottle, added water. Bought TATRI (Citric Acid) and made a solution. First I drained all the water in radiator. then inserted the Tatri solution in radiator and topped it up with tap water

Depends on the coolant.

If it is already concentrated with water than water is not added. If it is pure coolant than water (distilled) should be added on 50/50 proportion.

@xulfiqar bhai before the radiator was oka. I flushed it with citric acid 500mg/5 liter and it got leaked so errmmm we shouldnot do that?? (By the way it got cleaned like new lol)

How much do you think it should cost me with a new core?

And secondly, a friend suggested me to buy a new radiator and dont get it repaired as it will only last 2 to 4 months after reparing.. What do you suggest??

the leak you see is because your radiator was patched with rusty powder. That is a very bad situation. It happens when you neglect the cooling system to the point of disaster.

Keep it maintained and you will never have to do this again.

There were lots of radiator recore places in Karachi - its not a very hard job either. Used to be quite cheap and the quality of locally made Pakistani radiator cores was good too. Try getting a copper core radiator - its far better than the junk aluminium ones that come in cars nowadays.

Now i should get it re-cored with copper core or i should all the way replace the whole radiator with a copper core radiator??

And secondly i flushed the heater core with the same 10% strong critic acid solution and as my radiator tore in parts lol i couldn't flush the heater core completly with the baking powder solution.. And i think there is some solution still in the heater core.. Should i be worried? Or get the radiator job done and then flush the whole system with baking powder solution so the heater core will be good to go.. ??

And secondly what are the symptoms of heater core leakage..??
