^^ rusting is due to mixing of oil and water ? Didnt really catch that. The rusting is a normal aging mechanism for a radiator. Well it depends on how much you have used it and what type of an anti rust coolant you have been using. There is a local procedure where they take off the radiator clean it with acid and a wire and then fill it up and replace it. Ive heard it helps the smaller cars. If you have a mehran or alto which is like 10 years old that is an option otherwise show it to the company and get an advise and get a reliable anti rust coolant to fill up the radiator.

yep - I have thats why Ive written it like that. But beware - if your system is rusted to the point of corrosion, you will spring all kinds of leaks

Start ur car, open up the radiator cap, take a rubber pipe with running water and insert this pipe in to the radiator neck. The water with rust will be replaced by clean water. Do it weekly. Your radiator would survive long.

get it serviced and than use only coolant... no water... will lower the rate of decay... btw use some good quality coolant.

I will try caltex coolant as advised by margaller because the rest are tooo expensive!

What is a Tstat?
In some other readings, ppl recommend Oxalic or Citric acid for acid flushing radiators. Do you suggest Tartaric acid is more efficient? This treatment would help removing oiliness in water channels as well?

A friend suggested adding a cup of Diesel in my radiator will prevent rusting.

Is it true? More importantly, is it safe?

Tstat = Thermostat valve

citric acid and tartaric acid are the same deals - the oilyness in water needs to be removed first - by using a less foamy detergent like (gunk) or just pour in some ajax and water then run the engine without the thermostat for it to clean out any oil - flushing out foamy ajax will be a royal pain though.

Then add the tartaric acid mixture and flush.

adding diesel to your coolant is not a good idea - it will never mix with water and has dead heat transfer ability - if you want to kill your engine go for it.

@ Xulfiqar bhai always give practical solutions that do not need require spending $$$$.

I had used this on a 1984 Civic and it really works.

The Caltex coolant is for 300 Rs for a daba in Karachi, should be mixed by 60/40 with clean water, not good for Honda.
