Rash driving by Police

At 4pm today in DHA, Y-Block, Lahore I saw a police van being driven as though the driver was drunk. He overtook 3 cars from the wrong side waiting on an intersection and then attempted to make a turn in which he nearly side swiped one of the cars.
I was the 3rd car in the queue and I sped quickly to catch it and lowered my window and shouted something along the lines "banda ban!". To my dismay (although not surprise) he returned a few abuses (the van had 4-6 policemen in it). That blew some fuses of my own and on the next signal I walked towards them to inquire if I had heard correctly. The policeman who had shouted the abuses went quiet and the driver, who drove like an ***, then started shouting that I was breaking the law. Not wanting to escalate to a point where things get out of hand, I told him to respect the law if he happened to be a policeman, and walked back to my car while he again sped through to the Total petrol station to get his tyres fixed/filled with air.

So while we cannot rid ourselves of policeman who belong to backward areas and have learnt driving on donkey carts. And then probably made the employment through 'bradri' association or political ones, I do have one request. PLEASE PLEASE stand up and raise your voice when you see a wrong. The only reason such individuals drive like this even in the 'most posh of areas' is because most of us look the other way when we see law being broken. Imagine how these cops behave in backward areas where they are deemed to be kings.
Also, do not loose your temper, but ensure you make a firm point that they are breaking the law and to some extent getting in their face. If we dont even take such small steps, then we are encouraging such acts.

I have a story to share as well about it.............
the same rash driving thing happened in front of me...but the thing was they were starring at me on my way back from work (around 7 P.M) about a month back ..they came in front of me FORCING THEIR WAY between cars ...i initially honked at them but then they wouldnt move...and indicated right...sooooooo i thought maybe they r going to take a U -TURN and go back towards fortress bridge...anyways..i was suppose to turn right...so i went on the left lane......... and when light turned green i turned right.............all of a sudden i heard a huge bang..........the police car banged their front bumber to the back of my jeep..
i naturally got pissed and stopped my car thinking i will shout at them (fault is always of teh guy who hits from the back..especially when their was no way he could hv banged me)....but to my surprise the police guys..dodgy looking...came out..shouting at me...and wanted to check my drivign licence and car documents and ID card.....i couldnt hv showed them my ID card/ driving licence...as that woudl hv totally taken the conversation the other way...anyways.... he kept on saying he will charge me for terrorism and lock me in jail and i would hv to spend night in jail and what not...and how i would hv to spend 8000 on lawyer...
it was really scary.......infact it was such a weird situation that my wife nearly had a heart attack sitting watching it fron inside the car and with all this shouting ..................anyways..............i told the guy that he is being an idiot now...and i dont want to argue right now as i am tired after a long day at work....... so he should appologise instead of shouting ..........anyways..he wouldnt shut up...sooooooo to get rid of them and get things under control.......i offered him Rs.1000 ...to which he kept on saying 8-10,000.............and then i got angry as well......and said..okay...if u want to play this game...then lets go to police station...and i will tell u who i am at the police station..............and i asked him to tell me the police station he is from.......to which one of the other police man said...CANTT ........so i said...okay lets go...rest we talk there...and then...all of a suden his behaviour changed....and he took Rs. 1000 from me hand....and said..u look sharif admi....and they went away..

i was too busy arguing and didnt check what it said on car about the police station...and also they parked it far away so one couldnt hv read it anyways.....i checked all the police stations in CANTT the next day...to search for LZO 4161...by the way when you search it on MTMIS, it comes out as registered to honda CD70 .......so all police statiosn said ..nope..we dont hv this car.....and it cannot have this number plate anyways....

until this morning...........passing through Y- block market...i saw them parked outside Macdonald...........and it clearly said A BLOCK POLICE Station........

so now i am waiting for monday morning.......................... will find out who the commanding officer is........ i am still so angry at them..........this is just not acceptable....... especially when its their fault and instead of him apologising, i ended up paying 1000 ... its funny and sad at the same time...........

I am amazed we are even getting shocked or noticing this where have ppl be living been seeing past 30yrs ppl be it cops,bus or van drivers, taxi driver, truck drivers or just any drivers in Pakistan drive like idiots so whts new.
Pakistani police arnt tht bad considering you had a go at them even doubt you would do the same if it was some cop car abroad probably give it way even.

In my case it was a toyota hilux (single cabin). I attempted to take a picture of the stooges but my phone stopped working, since I may have been pressing the touch screen too hard during the argument.

I recommend avoiding giving bribes to these morons, since it only invites them to do this again. Instead, go to the station of the vicinity and force them to follow you. They are cowards and will typically speed away since they know that they can be sent behind lockers in police stations where they dont have clout. And its easier to get things calmed down in a police station since there are other calm heads around.

There is a lot of difference between army van in Rawalpindi and Army van in Swat, worst than Police vans all over Pakistan. you will find a decent driving Army van in Rawalpindi, but not in Swat Area. they even punctured the cars parked in no parking areas (no rule, no fine, no warning, just straight punctured and you will be in emergency).

aap log phir bhi shukar karo. in Swat aap ko public mein, family ky saamny road par karrha kar ky marengy bhi if you break some rule, i.e wrong overtake, wrongly parked, stop for no reason on the road etc.....the rules, defined there are different from the whole earth.

never, ever do that again, the time it will take your family or relative to react will do enough damage to you psychologically than you can even dream of. They are the worst people who live with criminals and do all sort of bad things with humans. Let him drive the way he wants,

The other day when I was driving with family from Rwp to Jhelum on GT Road, I saw a similar display of driving skills. It was some senior officer of the Punjab Govt (two Green Plate Corollas and a Police Hilux). They were driving too fast; overtook me from the wrong side and almost forced me off the road. The driving behaviour was dangerous and abnoxious, to say the least. Unfortunate.

same thing I experienced on M1 when there was a prado and a mercedes with two police double cabins with flashing beacons. it was 10 pm night and I was in sort of emergency doing 140+ and this convoy was moving in the fast lane. after cpl of minutes wait for them to give me way I started giving dippers to the last police double cabin n they show gesture of NO with a hand signal and then I engaged high beam continuously and you all know the high beam of new corolla :). they gave me very fierce looks but then I started honking the horn and ultimately the lead vehicle indicated left move and the convoy got into middle lane and after that they immediately sped up
man u got to believe me thanks God my vehicle was tuned and had to cross 160 in order to overtake them. such ppl drive like they own the road. both the prado and other vehicles were carrying green plates n full tints.

I appreciate the poster and salute u man. We need guyz like you to change the mindset of police and other such institutions.

try contacting their PSP officers and they will treat u very nice. don't go for the rankers, thanedars, dsp, asi etc they all carry same mindset ie to protect their phaiti band bai

Dear brothers my knowledge is very low in this matter.
So could you be kind enough to explain what is a CSP officer? I would greatly appreciate it
I want to know so that next time some policeman give me problem I can ask for their CSP officer
