Yes this particular car is a curious mix of parts. Just going to comment on the body shell..... Complete half moons combined with standard rear view mirror??? Half moons and still rear window *looks* pre 1971?? I may be wrong on the latter but look at the standard rear view mirror.......The plot thickens!
A far fetched idea pops to mind.....maybe its a 1968 frame with a late Brazilian/Australian/Whatever body which is a one off like our Aussie bug was???
Anyway, we shall not discourage you Muj_talpur.....its your car and if you love it the way it is, who are we to say??
Unfortunately for us Karachites, as we were discussing in our last VWCOP Karachi Chapter core meeting, the city does not have many denters ready for a body off job on a VW. We just have Basit whose reputation has been under question time and again due to bad experiences of people with him. Even people who used to swear by his name, now have doubts given that he is handicapped. Only way he can prove himself is to roll out good finished (denting wise) cars out of his shop in reasonable time. Lets see how he does in the coming future.
Only other option in our city is Doctor sb of Car Care garage. He does superb *ACE* restos but his charges, though worth every single penny are not affordable by most. And often he is unable to give time to start a project.
So most denters, including Shappo (shabboo?) ustaad whose work we see here do not go for a complete body off.
