Regular Vs Hi-octane

It's the knocking and it's the common knocking I have seen in other lancer threads here just when the car stabilizes at 60km/h for cruising and it's far more than the vitz's/passo's I have seen which knock on acceleration too due to fuel difference. Now about FPR firangi's say it's useless for such stock situations, don't have a scanner but maybe will invest in one down the lane to see what's up. For now Hi-Octane has solved the situation in next tank will try a combo mixture to see if the problem is contained, but if the mixture can't help then I will know something is off because if a end result of RON 90-92 through combination can't help me then something is off.

Afaik a lean mix knocks easier than a rich one. If fpr is bad, or if O2 sensor is lazy/contaminated then it could be the case. For investigations you'd need the scanner. Take a look at the fuel trims and some live o2 data with a few specific tests.

What you said about knocking on getting to cruising speed, thats when the ecu goes into proper closed loop mode; if its knocking there then I would definitely investigate fuel delivery system.

The thing is it's natural phenomena on majority of these japanese lancers I have heard multiple cases experienced two myself. It was made for RON 90 at least and post 150k km mileage if I do try it on RON 87 if anything don't you think knocking is the only response it will have for me?:s

There are many made for higher grade fuel but they work, without knocking problems. I've seen a vitz knock as bad as you've described, and yet another one that I never heard knock, not even once. Even in our own pkdm cars, I have heard Xlis knock, and yet others that dont - all on regular fuel.

Also, on a 150K driven vehicle, you sure can suspect the o2 going lazy if not outright bad. Which is another reason I would go for detailed diagnostics including live as well as recorded data during a test run.

You are right my paki corolla 1.6 has started doing a bit of knocking at hardly 20k ish km's...when you say O2 you mean the O2 sensor?
What would be the parameters or optimum values when doing such diagnostics?

Ive noticed clear boost in running with hioctane. I think super is not suited for corolla or such other cars

I have 1 Khyber with me equipped with G10 engine with CNG installed. Compression ratio, of course is 9.5:1

So the issue of soot and carbon deposits as mentioned by some pakwheelers above; what if we use CNG as fuel which has octane rating of 130?

Will CNG also cause too much soot & carbon deposits in our engine being high octane rated Fuel? Will it also burn too slow?

cng makes engine to run dry that causes carbon deposit to build up faster on vales seats.
