Standox is (i think) the best paint available out ther right now, but it all depends on the painter and the conditions. Best advice is to get the whole car stripped (chemical) and have it bake painted. My beetle costed me 20,000 for a chemical strip and bake paint (standox).

The beetle actually was a 1200 but I was planning on fitting a more powerful unit at a later date (had a friend looking for a flat 6 in peshawar) or maybe some forced unduction. I swear if you see it now it looks horrible with that floppy roof on it.

hi storm tell me that standox paint can be used for suzuki cars like fx or mehran or some japanese paint can also be used.bcoz there is a body difference between these cars and foxy.foxy is quite older than them but people are still remaking it bcoz it has an excellent metal which just seems as new even after remade several times.tell me how much time is required for repainting.

If I'm not mistaken you can use any paint on any car, so you shouldn't have a problem with a suzuki and standox paint. As far as painting goes some painters can do it in 1 day with a thick coat, but I'd prefer to have them take their time and do a couple of thinner layers, clearcoat & bake so that can take up to 4 days (and about 2-3 times the price - but it lasts forever)

yar you have told that nearly 4 days are required to repaint a car properly.these 4 days include the time need to remove the old paint or not? bcoz i have seen cars standing in denting and painting shops for months or at least 20 days and the dentors removing the old paint with the help of sandpapers and other tools like that slowly and steady. there is a denting and painting workshop at islamabad called VEBRA but i have heard that it is extra ordinary expensive.do you know about that?

what about remaking of an old toyota corolla 1982 model or the models with same shape and with steel bumpers? how much would it cost??

yaar mazhar if you want to remake the car yourself like new tires,engine overhaul,denting painting etc etc then why would you buy a decent car??

Moqeem & new raza are almost next door to each other. I'll try to find thier numbers for you, but everyone knows who moqeem is. Best bet is to contact khalid ustaad and he'll go with you to get all thte parts ad make sure you don't over pay.

'82 Corolla is a bridge between old and new designs and is even nowadayz is acceptable to eyez.

Yes, Salarzae its true, the corolla of 80's are still acceptable to eyes. I myself built 1981 corolla with diesel engine. And after all the hardwork and time consumed, I must say its worth it. I spent around 150k on this car.

Hi Everybody,

If you people are ready to spend time, money and energy to re-build an old car, it is better to select any thing that is realy a head turner like DATSUN 1600 or 1300, corona Mark I, Ford Escort and Mazda. You will find thousands of corolla 82 running around with even genuine color & wheel caps.
Australians are mad about Datsun 1600 and you people will get custom build parts (body as well and engine) from there. finaly don't even think of putting diesel in your project car.
Any ways good luck towards your project.

yaar i agree with you guys that corolla 82 is a bridge between old and new cars like many people are saying that Datsun 120y is a good reliable and durable car. may be they are right but the shape of 120y is not so beautiful and most of them are converted in taxis. so it has got the taxi image.
seconly tell me guys how much you people spent on your 82s to remake them including the car's price. and how much time is needed for it.

@speedster, I spend around 150k on the car, at that time value of my car was about 175k. So total it would cost me Rs. 325000/-. My suggestion is to find any 80's model with a good body condition (be it datsun, toyota, mazda or else) and then rebuilt or restore it to its original condition. There's no time specific time period for this kinda job, but atleast six months required to finish these jobs.
