Next day, when I started the car. Engine was mis-firing. My first guess was "plugs mai paani ghuss gya hoga"
So opened the plugs n dried them.

Fitted them back, started the car & still the missing was there. I was like " ye kya rolla hai yaaarrrrrrr "
Khair I then started the engine & took out the plug wires one by one & came to know that cylinder no.2 has got NO spark.
Immediately, I removed the distributor cap & found moisture inside it. So cleaned all the points on it.

Fitted it back, fired up the engine & all good n smooth now.

And here comes the FUN Part 🤣
Same day, after getting the missing issue resolved. I had to travel on highway for like 140 kms.
Upon reaching my destination, what I saw was really shocking for me.

I just noticed that the coolant is leaking from the driver side, under the car. Rushed to the car, poped up the hood & that shitty Water Body was leaking "tip tip tip tip"

This was a heart-breaking moment for me. I was so dis-heart & angry. I gave her so much love, a day before & she did this to me For a moment, I thought "aag lgaa du gari ko" .

Khair I then controlled myself & parked it in the garage. After consulting YouTube, My initial plan was to let it sit in the garage for the whole month of Ramadan & will get it fixed after Eid, as the repair job was quite major & needs alot of things to disassemble etc etc.

It is wise to replace thermostat, water pump and all rubber hoses when performing general cooling system flush. Why didn’t you replace it before when you were pouring Toyota SLLC which is a expensive coolant. Once done you get tension free for 5yrs/250000km.

All rubber hoses are good, as I keep an eye on them regularly. T-stat is also working good. Radiator is also in top-notch condition. Same goes with the water body but I had no idea that this thing will give up on wrong time.

If I remember correctly the last time when you cleaned the radiator using acid and baking soda along with the thermostate it came out crystal clear no rust. So how did this happen in just 2-3 months?
And didn't you changed the water body before.
Let's hope things will be better after this work.

Khair, abba g noticed that I am having a bad day, he said me to cool down & get the repair job done asap. So after a sleepless night, next day I landed at the workshop before the arrival of my mechanic

First I prepared the recently cleaned interior for the workshop visit i.e. covering seats etc. Take a look

Specially bought this small tub, to save the remaining coolant.

Out of 5 litres, only 2.5 litres came out safely. Baki wasted.

I flushed the radiator last September, so its not just 2-3 months, its been 8 months.
And here I did the mistake, I didn't poured-in coolant at that time, only used distilled water. I wish tabhi coolant daal laita.
Khair there was no rust till now, dont know how it got leaked.
And no, I didn't changed the water body, was running on the original one.

Btw distilled water also shouldn’t do this much damage. Make sure everything is perfect now.

Let's start the removal

Some "Chota" broke the wiring harness of alternator (disadvantages of getting the work done in Pakistan, hr kaam mai jldi )

Engine is clean Alhamdolillah, after doing 20k kilometres in Pakistan

Condition of timing belt, originally came with engine. Not bad.

I am going to replace these both things as a preventative maintenance.

I tried my best in finding the original Toyota timing belt, but it wasn't available in my city. So got the mitsuboshi timing belt.
Its good for next 50k kilometres.
Attaching the pictures of part number & size of my old original timing belt, as it would be helpful for other members too.

Keeping the pictorial record of belts i.e. size, brand etc for this 7afe engine, it will be helpful for me & other 7afe owners as well.

New parts back in the engine. I was there, at the workshop, during the whole surgery. No jugaars, everything went smooth. Mechanic himself did the job, no chota's involved. No mess.

Poured-in the coolant, started the engine & it was feeling extra smooth now. Seems like the previous timing bearing was little bit rattling.

Drove the car back home. Now I only need to top up the coolant. All good otherwise.

I think this happened only bcz I ran the car for like 20k kms on water instead of coolant, that's why ...

Distilled water is more harmful because of its low ph....low ph is more favourable for rusting.....its better to add amines if using only distilled water....

And problem with mineral water is that it causes scale formation....bcz mineral starts to settle down at higher temperature...

Bs Sir no more water in the cooling system from now on. It seriously sucks.
To top-up the coolant in my car, today I just bought this 2nd Gallon of Toyota LLC, only bcz I didn't wanted to put water in the radiator this time.

Br very informative thread, because I also own the same car and have plan to swap. I am interested in 1 nz Fe 1500 cc engine. Can anyone plz tell me the well known swap mech at shoba Bazar peshawer or ahata mithoo Khan Rawalpindi to plan accordingly.
