You should check with @nmshaikh for a brand new WCM engine bay seal immediately. I believe he might have a few still in stock.

I loose heart only when I get really tense, that's it.

I text messaged Mr Nasir asking if he had a new WCM engine bay seal in stock. He replied with a yes, currently text messaging him.

Here are some pictures I took of both the old engine bay seal and the new one I got today, the old one weighs a lot for a rubber seal. While the new one weighs a little less. Both seals are locally manufactured and are made up of pathetic quality, I don't know if I am getting all the defected pieces or it's just my luck.

Both the pulleys have been painted but I am not satisfied. I scrapped them with sand paper when I went to the workshop earlier this week and told the painter to scrape them properly before applying the paint. I guess he didn't listen and painted them as I left them.

As you look closely you can see grains on both the pulleys, if they were sanded out and smoothened properly this wouldn't have happened.

I'll ask him to redo both of them tomorrow, the paint covered up the bolts too will clean them up personally.

The one you got today is incorrect for your year. No wonder it wont fit as its pre 67 piece. The other one is the correct one for your year.

Plus, their is a section of the slip-on channel missing on the RHS.

Completely agree with that, I've been having really bad luck with this project of mine.

I want to perform a DIY on the fuel tank and the oil bath air cleaner tomorrow, will be following the same procedure @fedd used to de-rust and re-paint the fuel tank for his Beetle.

Any pre-cautions, tips or things I should take care of before starting off the process?

Firstly the seals are incorrect, secondly trying to wrestle them dry will even tear an OG seal. The correct way is "AJAX liquid" firstly wash out the channel with a brush and ajax, then use the ajax on the seal as a "lubricant" and slip it in the channel. I have seen some mechanics tear up a great number of such seals in cars other than beetles.

A good library on your model car is vital for restoration - so that you know what were the different parts available in the production run and how they were different.

And firstly cram the whole library before undoing your car.

a good example, you dont try to make DIY chicken tikka if you do not know how to light a batch of coals or how to play around with spices. If you leave it someone else then that someone should be passionate about it not someone who is accustomed to all kinds of "aaloo gosht"

Thank you! Well, upholstery as in seats, headliner, and surrounding areas are costing me 8,500rs. The material will be supplied by the guy not me.

The cost above excludes the cost of the carpet and the door panels.

Hi guys, the upholstery guy brung in the covers for the rear seats. He fitted the covers to the rear backrest and it looks awesome! The material for the rear seat is at the workshop as well, he just has to fit it. I am impressive with the finish and overall work.

Let's hope the front seats turn out the same, pictures below.

I was looking for something like this for quite sometime. I initially wanted to get the D-ring for the original steering wheel but it was pretty hard to come by and those who had it were asking a price which was out of my reach.

The condition of the wheel is alright, no cracks or bends but it needs cleaning though. The wooden on the upper side is faded, would polishing it fix it or would I need to do something else?

It has 'E.Nardi' (Enrico Nardi) the famous Italian racing car driver's signature engraved onto the right spoke, which is pretty neat. Has 'Made In Italy' engraved on the back as well.

I just hope it will fit onto Blue's steering column.

@reezvaan, @Xulfiqar do you guys have any idea on how I can clean it up and would it fit or not?
