Amaaazingg work till now. (Y) . Keep posting as we are all waiting
@spitfire
I just came to this thread today & I have no words to say as other members have already appriciate it well.
It must be one of the best restoration on PakWheels or even in Pakistan.
Great work keep it up we r waiting for more pics.
This cars body will last for a good 50 years, your son's grand-sons will get it in good shape, havent heard of anybody making a car's body in 18 guage !By the way you are putting some good 50 kilos of extra load on it
salamz brothers..@punk..here are some original logos.....
sorry for bad picture quality.
@punk....I could not see word "mazda" in your post for logos...@imranbhatti...thankx brother for appreciation .a lot of pics will be on their way@C123pk..yes you are right brother that this 18 guage sheet car is going to last for next 50 years INSHALLAH for my son and grand sons .lol..and yes definately some weight is added to it lets see how it behaves with the previous engine, otherwise we will put its original engine and tranny in it which is lying in my store full of dust (i will post the pics )
now lets come to our restoration.I want to show you some more pics of the bonnet of original spitfire in open form and from different angles so you may understand the original shape and different pieces /panels from which it is made then we will come to the project spit's bonnet see these pics....
Sorry for bad picture quality..you can see that when bonnet is opened, all the fenders and inner wheel arches comewith it.the whole structure is in one piece.inner wheel arches are very important in the bonnet because these are the attatching point of the bonnet with the chassis.a structure of pipes(very strong) is bolted to these inner wheel arches and the other part of that pipe structure is attached with the chassis via hinges..a very unique set up...I think these pics will explain the setup of bonnet a little better.(the steel pipe in the pics to keep bonnet open is not original.I have taken out the original bonnet stay to make a duplicate of it as our project spit was lacking one.)....see these pics
notice the hinges of bonnet, the attatching points and arrangement of pipes with which the whole bonnet is attached.these pics will explain the setup very clearly...see........
left bonnet hinge
Yaar what can i say...i m speachless to see this marvelous work!!(Y)...hats off to ya spitfire!! and that car is looking just awsome!!(Y)
notice this plate in the front of the inner wheel arch where the pipe is finally attached before going to the hinge (a very important strengthing plat)see this pic..
also have a close look of this panel.it is just under the front lip of the bonnet..also gives strength to the bonnet..see this pic..
actually I am going in the details of all these parts/panels of the bonnet to make you understand how they look like(original)and what is the original setup because the bonnet of our project spitfire was in very very poor shape and condition of all these panels(the pics i just posted)was very bad and they were rusted so much that they looked like a paper.....you will see the pics...
Nice job going (y) ...!
now lets come to the bonnet of project spitfire.from the following pic,you can see the condition of the bonnet(inner view)see the pic...
Your red spitfire looks worn out, and needs a bit of tender loving care also. Get a fresh coat of paint on that baby and it'll look spectacular!
As it is, the paint does not match the workmanship.
see the condition of the side plate where the pipe is attached.if you go back to the pics, you can see the original condition of this plate and see this one(left)in poor shape...see the pic
two threads are devastatingly addictive... one is this, the other is beetle restoration of @Storm! (y)
you can see that where bolts are supposed to be of the pivoting pipe, there are only holes and cracks all around..see the other side...pic.
