I was not aware that coconut husk was used as late as the 90's. It is easy to manipulate and shape in the seats as a stuffing material.
The spring box is in great shape, no repairs necessary. Thanks for the valuable tip on the repair procedure.
Test drive resulted in a flawless clutch/gear action. This has the old Moss gearbox with syncro in 2nd, 3rd, 4th. These Moss boxes were notorious for having slow changes. This one is no different. Gear changes cannot be hurried.
I will eventually get to making this at home.
I had suggested steel because I did want to be held responsible for suggesting wood in the event it failed and the car landed on the floor on its side:)
