What a car to resuscitate.. and older jaguars were no doubt very elegant. this car being in your family from the very start makes working on it all the more special.. i wish you all the best and many miles of smiles for the times to come. hopefully now it wont stay parked inside the garage..

It has been a bit quiet from my side. Reason being there is nothing much to report. I have been working on the front seats. The passenger seat has been completed and put away in the store ready to go into the car while I work on the driver's seat.

I have taken upon myself to improve upon my previous effort on the seats. As I am not a poshish walla by profession I learn as I go along. First time around when I did the seats, I didn't foresee that the seat covering will slide down with use and pull away from the seat back. See picture below. The dust on the leather is from lying in the store ever since I removed them for the gearbox job. I have fixed this fault on the passenger seat and now it is the turn of the driver's seat.

The side skirting has shifted away from the seat back exposing the internals. Problem has been solved by providing additional clips along the seat back to hold the material in place

The funny hair you see poking out is coconut husk (hair). Back in 1947 they did not have foam and sponge. This stuff is what is used as a filling:

It works pretty well. No need to carve out the foam to the required shapes. This stuff just takes the required shape and stays bouncy. It has for the last 65 years. I'd like to see our modern day foam filled seats after 64 years :S

Mercedes used this well into the 90s - this is way nicer and stays cooler too. My old VW Golf also had seatbacks filled with this. - no sweaty back and because this breathes you get a nice treat of heat/cold whilst driving.

to repair the spring links in the box you need to get some old diesel injection pipes and drill them to the size of the spring wire, insert it over and leave them be. Works a treat.

With a bit of care the car can be turned over on its side easily. You have the light weight of the Mehran going for you. Here are a couple of pictures of a simple body rollover jig for you to think about. In my mind the strongest place to attach the jig would be at the bumper bar mounting point at both the front and rear of the car.

I think you get the idea of what I am talking about.

I have made this out of wood for rotating daihatsu charade G100s. Insert into the chassis leg holes and rotate away.

Indeed, it was 12.... not 11 or 13 ... exactly 12 Now we don't want the car jumping out of 4th gear do we???

this requirement makes mechanical sense, when fiddling lucas electrics you do whatever is said - it may also tell you to enjoy a cup of tea

the desi waxoyl works nice - make sure to use a less stinky carrier oil. For parrafin wax - get to a beauty parlour supply store or any merchant who trades honey - beeswax is really nice for this.

Thank you for your appreciating the vehicle and my efforts. I do take it out for shopping trips but the problem is the attention it gets and the thong of people that surround it. I don't mind the people looking but when their curiosity gets the better of them and they start playing around with the fittings and fixtures on the car, it gets very unnerving. Anyhow, you are welcome anytime.

I was not aware that coconut husk was used as late as the 90's. It is easy to manipulate and shape in the seats as a stuffing material.

The spring box is in great shape, no repairs necessary. Thanks for the valuable tip on the repair procedure.

Test drive resulted in a flawless clutch/gear action. This has the old Moss gearbox with syncro in 2nd, 3rd, 4th. These Moss boxes were notorious for having slow changes. This one is no different. Gear changes cannot be hurried.

Osama Sb. camera expert te tussi ho na....camray de sir pair bary menu kee pata. Button te duur de gal hai

Any day except Sunday is good. On Sundays I take the wife and kids to Pindi to visit family. So weekdays in the morning or afternoon will be fine. Photo shoot can be in the F-9 park or any other place you like. Too bad there are no period buildings in Isloo that could be used as a back drop.
