Last week I took my father's Honda civic 9th gen (2013) for the 45,000 km check up to Honda Centre Rwp from where the car was bought. The air filter gets extremely dirty after 5000 km of our car since the car is used extensively on GT road and even inside Islamabad, it is very dusty. To my surprise, the filter was almost clean as new. On asking, one of the head technicians said these filters go for 10,000 km without being replaced. I told him we have been replacing it after every 5000 km n once even after 4000 km, it used to get that dirty, but he kept on insisting on his point!
After check up was completed, when I started the car, I noticed the sound under the hood as there was some air leakage into the engine compartment (same as u get from the silencers when the 'dholki' gets out of order). Upon checking, the air filter assembly was not placed properly and one of the senior mechanics quickly said to me "sir aap ne kaheen baahir se engine ka kaam krwaya hai." I told him we dont take the new car to any mechanic except you people, I have the record book with me signed n stamped by you guys afgter every 5000 km. I took the case to other Honda people there that it was there fault that at 40,000km when the car was checked, the technician didn't properly fit the air filter housing on its place and the unfiltered air must have been entering in the engine which might have damaged the inlet n exhaust valves, pistons, rubber seals etc. They simply denied as being NOT their fault at all!!!
Right now,as the time is passing, I am feeling loss of power in the engine and average fuel mileage is much lower even the oil,oil filter, fuel filter have been replaced!
This is pathetic service on Honda's part because we have already got our windscreen replaced as it was cracked on GT road and the new one started to leak due to displacement of gasket. Although this time it must have been done unintentionally but hamara to nuqsaan kr dia hai. Apart from that there is a religious issue as well i.e Car Insurance for which I am personally very against after researching about Islamic economic system but unfortunately father is not ready to cancel it in near future
For now, kindly let me know from where can I get the engine compression test done here in ISB/RWP or the place where compression test gauge can be bought? Anything else to be done to know the engine condition??
