Road Trip Across Sindh & South Punjab (December 2014) - [KTG]

For shopping we reached at a random shopping mall near Fawara Chowk. Checked shoes, clothes etc but bought nothing. Basically it was just to kill the time

Meanwhile I also phoned my friend Salman ( @mssr ), a fellow Pakwheeler who has made an excellent trip to Kumrat Valley last year and also made a superb narrative thread ( which can be found by clicking this link ) if it would be possible to have a small meetup with him. He was busy with some guests so he told that he will contact after half an hour.

After window shopping, we went to a famous fast food restaurant in Bahawalpur named Zanzibar.. almost all Bahawalpurites will know about it. We all were having extreme craving for something other than karahi etc so we decided to eat Pizza today. We also called Nadeem Bhai (with whom we had lunch earlier today) and told him that today's dinner is from our side.

We went there and ordered 3 large pizzas of different flavors.. since it was a fast food restaurant so the bill was paid upfront by us..

While we were waiting for food, Salman Bhai ( @mssr ) also phoned that he is now free and will join us. He came quickly as he lived nearby. We had a very good chit chat. Salman bhai shared some of his experiences from Kumrat trip, some was shared by us.. Meanwhile the pizzas came which were very tasty especially the Pineapple Pizza

We really enjoyed our meal and then after we were free from both eating and talking, we gathered for a group photo. Meanwhile we were gathering, Salman Bhai went to the ordering counter so we thought he might be ordering something to take away.. anyway he soon joined us in the group photo. When the group photo was done.. suddenly a waiter came near me.. patted my shoulder and said.. sir aapko manager bula rahay hain... I went to him and he handed me the money.. I asked him whats that?? He said while pointing to Salman ( @mssr ) bhai that this guy has reversed your bill and paid himself. I was shocked for once and took the money.. came near the group and announced what Salman bhai had done..

I told Salman bhai that this is not fair. We are a big group.. it would be no problem if it was just me or a couple of friends.. but we only realized that his heart was much bigger than our group. So in the end, we lost and hospitality & friendship won...

So after that Salman bhai left and Nadeem bhai invited us for a tea. All friends came in car and I got a chance to ride Nadeem Bhai's brand new Suzuki GD 110 Euro II bike which was a pleasant ride to the tea hotel in Trust Colony.

We spent about an hour while having a sitting at Nadeem Bhai's place for tea. It was a fun filled hour where everyone just laughed and laughed due to jokes and stories cracked by Nadeem Bhai. In fact he is the guy who can talk non stop on each and every topic.

After the tea session, we said goodbye to Nadeem bhai and headed back towards Samma Satta to spend the night.

While going to Samma Satta, we have to cross the samma satta railway crossing. We briefly stopped there for half hour.. watched the passing trains and also warmed our hands over coals. Also had gup shup with phatak and torch guys.. Please check out Adeel's thread Swat Trip & Surprise Ending for the wonderful shots he took of passing trains.

After spending half hour on phatak.. it was getting more cold n cold so we finally moved to quarter and slept.

Woke up around 8 AM and got fresh.. Left the quarter by 8:30 AM to the village home for breakfast. Today we had to leave Samma Satta and had to visit Derawar Fort in Cholistan Desert and try to reach Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad or Sukkur by evening.

Soon the breakfast was served followed by tea. Mani asked for a pure cup of milk as such milk is not available in city Rest of us didn't drink the pure milk ke hamara pait is khalis doodh ko bardasht kar sakay ga bhi ya nahi

After breakfast, we were ready to leave..

Around 9:45 AM, we said farewell to Akhter & brothers for wonderful hospitality and then took the road to national highway. Our next destination was Derawar Fort..

Soon we stopped at this random fuel station for nature call and fuel refill. It was excellent weather there with cool breeze blowing along with mazedaar wali sunlight. We got fresh there.. took a few pictures of camel carts carrying sugarcane and then moved..

Sugarcane season was in full swing and often there was road blockage because of trollies carrying sugarcane. This sugar mill is near Ahmedpur East.

A few kilometers before Ahmedpur East (from where a road leads to Derawar).. we stopped at a restaurant/tuck shop to buy water, snacks & drinks (soft only).. Its name was DUA Restaurant.. this reminded of DUA restaurant in Karachi.. most Karachiites would know about this.. but it was totally different management..

We got the snacks and then headed towards Ahmedpur.. Got into Ahmedpur East city.. purchased fresh kinnos.. Mansoor went to purchase kinnos and few mins later he came back to car.. abay idhar kinno kilo ke hisaab se milte hain? I said haan bhai Punjab mai kilo mai milte hain.. le le

After buying kinnos, we moved ahead with the help of Google Maps..

The road from Ahmedpur East to Derawar Fort is in excellent condition. Both sides are full with greenery.. right now sugarcane, wheat and mustard was cultivated everywhere.. We continued our journey in really good mood enjoying the scenes.

i really enjoyed to drive between ahmed pur to drawar fort. full greenry scene ON both sides of the road. it was my first attempt of drive through out the tour, otherwise i love to sit behind and enjoy the nature.
