i love the rx8, personally speaking its a superb car with superb engineering. the rest of the world has them and keep them for years and years just like any other car on earth. the thing is, in pakistan many new money paindoos have chosen the rx8 over anyother car, not to be a di*k or anything, when you upgrade from a diesel corolla/cultus/ etc straight to an rx8, a car which requires unique care and consdieration, you are bound to have issues if it is taken like any other local car. Ive seen rx8s with the right people being run since years with zero issues. it all comes down to the owner and how he maintains it.

i'd love to buy a silver rx8 and i may as well soon enough, and perhaps go for a heavy bolt on setup, i simply love the drive, comfort, fun, and genuinality of that car.

We pakistanis are very smart , abroad RX-8 costs more then 3.5million and here people say RX-8 is a normal car we want it for 0.8 million.
Something here which really let me down to think how uneducated people want to have a RX-8.

Agree with your point , if you are going to buy one promise me not to put any other engine in it than a Rotary.
I once stopped for refill ,there was another red RX-8 also getting refill.
He walked to me and started asking what engine i had in mine , so i opened up the bonnet and showed him. I told him i top it up regularly and put 2 stroke oil in the tank every refill.He said his rotary started emmitting smoke on high rpms so he swapped it for a 1.8 Toyota engine.Then i asked him where his old engine was , very surprisingly it was still with him , had a deal with him on his old engine. One month ago i got the engine rebuilt and have it ready for swap in some other car when i get the time and money for a project.

Buy one with a good engine , perform compression tests before buying , if you are getting one cheap with a bad engine then instead of swapping it get it rebuilt , less costly but most important you will keep your car original.

Looking forward for a new member @ ROC.

My Type S 04 Red is giving very unstable RPM when on idle , RPM needle dances from 0-1000 repedetly.Spark plugs are almost new only done 1000km i think but the problem appears very saldom. Have the air filter sprayed with pressurised air , its not giving any problem now but sometimes when i am standing at a red light the car shuts off.
Worried it can be some compression problem.

Please look into this.

Two things:

1. Make sure your fuel quality is right, try switching to some other petrol station.

2. If the above doesn't fix it, have your fuel pump checked out.

3. If the above two don't work-- then its most likely time for an engine rebuild. The car being unable to hold idle is a classic sign of the engine dying.

Fuel is always Shell Hi-Octane , there have been some times when they were out of H.O and i had to get it filled with regular.
About rebuild , i still have that rebuilt engine i bought so if this engine starts giving me any serious problems , i will just swap it with the rebuilt one.

My upgrades are listed in my signature , aftermarket upgrades for RX-8 are much more costly than for other cars atleast what i have noticed.
