Royal Shield car paint protection, any opinions?

AOA need some info regarding royal shield
some say its not good and some say its the best
problem is this i have 05 corolla full of swirls and some deep scratches, though all the paint is fine when i apply turtle black box it shines like anything.
now tell me those who have applied royal shield is it any good for my car or not? do they remove swirls marks first and then apply the sealant or they do something else?

The car had been standing in rain three four days ago and it did not get any kind of dusting, wiping and been travelling daily between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, but still glistening, shining and giving that wet black look. I do not remember when it was last time when I put wax or polish on it. Still it looks new when even washed with plain water. Do not remember when it was the last time I used Shampoo on it.

Mine GLi came in feb 2012. RS is still good, no need of polishing so far. As i had said earlier, that they claim life of RS to be 3 years, but in my personal experience it lasts for 2 years. My 2 years r going to xpire in 2.5 months, but i guess this time it gonna last little bit longer.

Hi Pakwheelers need your help on this. Today's Dawn classified carries an ad "Car lovers no need to polish your car again" by Tradeways International. This is basically Teflon paint sealant which they claim gives car body paintwork an incredible gloss and wet look year around, extremely easy to maintain and keeps the car dust free and also protects it from rust, colour fading and minot scratches. What do you guys think of it? Has anyone got it on his/her wheels and how much does it cost? regards

I did not get in on my new Corolla as I wanted to try proper professional detailing which is also very good.

Royal shield basically is not about shine, but it is about protection from heat, dust, rain, bird droppings and prevents pain oxidation (white marks on dark paints). It makes cleaning the car easy as I could clean my black car after rain with just a wet towel and it left no streaks and still gave wet look without any polish, wax used (hardly three four times in 10 years).

On white paint you will not notice much gloss and shine, but it will protect your pain from turning pale and also cleaning would be very easy.

Ok! Thanks, ceramic glass coating is same thing? Its going to cost around 30k in Karachi and it will last 4 years according to detailers and pain sealant costs 10 k but last less than a year.

I would prefer twice a year treatment, i.e decontamination or paint and reapplying the sealant.

Teflon based coating products... well, theres a lot of talk about them and i tell u why.

Cheap to manufacture, very easy to apply! So it means a lot of room for profits! They do give the car some good deep wet gloss and they are good on touch! Washing & maintaining vehicle is much easier too. Means after coating when the customer touches his car, he can feel it be very slick n soft! Hence car dealerships love to offer these products as an option to their customers... any average idiot worker of their's can quickly apply it n buff off! Hence the companies that are make these coatings are actually big... they are offering these to car showrooms directly and making huge sales and profits. Dealerships love em too, coz theres nothing technical on it.. just an easy steal of money...
It is the reason u hear a lot of negatives about them online forums... they over promise, under deliver because:
A) Already an inferior product(less resistant to swirls & scratches)
B) Dealer applied means, improper hastey application

Moreover Teflon based coatings have good water sheeting behaviour and cars do stay cleaner for longer, washing them is easier too. Gloss good too.

Now lets come to explaining the negatives...

Its a very thin coat and wont provide much scratch resistance, it gets a lot of swirls back on it quickly, its not exactly as durable as advertised and cannot be taken as a substitute to proper paint coating/glass coating!

Proper paint coatings/ glass coatings are much better in terms of real protection then these Teflon based ones.

So if u want optimum protection, go for a quality paint coating!

For the 10 years of your car, how many time did you apply royalshield? or was it done only once? Based on you experience would you recommend it for a bronze mica altis?

One time. The benefit I noticed were no fading from any panel till I sold the car in January 2015. I could clean a rain dirty car with just a wet rag or towel and it never left any streaks.

If you have detailing bug, then I would not recommend Royal Shelid. I went for it in 2005 because I did not know a thing about detailing back then.

But a proper royal shield coat surely protects paint from environmental factors like sun, rain, snow and bird droppings.
