P
lenty of water - wells and springs
On the night of 16 Ramadan Allah sent rains, this proved helpful to Muslims. They could collect sufficient water for their needs and refresh themselves. This rain is mentioned in the Quran (Surah Anfal).
The warriors saw their own near and dear ones in the opposite camps. For instance, Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) stepped forward with a sword in hand against his own son (who at that time did not accept Islam). Hudhaifa (RA) faced his own father Utba. Omar’s (RA) sword was red with the blood of his maternal uncle.
The battle began with the one-to-one battle between 3 warriors from the disbelievers and 3 from Muslims:
Ali (RA) killed Utbah Ibn Rabi-ah
Hamza (RA) killed Al Walid
Obeidah Al Harith (RA) challenged Sheibah. Obeidah Al Harith (RA) became the first martyr of this battle after killing Sheibah, with the help of Ali (RA) and Hamza (RA).
It is during this battle, the prophet said this supplication:
“God this is Quraish. It has come with all its arrogance and boastfulness, trying to discredit Thy Apostle. God, I ask Thee to humiliate them tomorrow. God, if this Muslim band will perish today, Thou shall not be worshipped.”
The Messenger (S.A.W.) took a handful of gravel when the battle was extremely heated. He threw it at the faces of the pagans saying " May your faces be disfigured. God, terrify their hearts and invalidated their feet. "
When the general offensive began, it brought to view a unique scene of sacrifice and reckless valour.
Allah sent his help and a handful of Muslims emerged victorious as the opponents were made to flee, scores killed wounded or taken prisoners.
This battle laid the foundation of the Islamic State and made out of the Muslims a force to be reckoned with.
