It was habit of so called (earlier) Communist bloc, to build such thing, large, huge etc. Basically a vechile from any of that country (at that time) were like a engine with wheels, no worries about the suspension, all it was made was to move. But very very solid body. Such vehicles needed alot of repairs, and seriously fuel addicts.
