How many have you actually own an Rx8. I am sick of people passing out comments about cars they never even sat in. Genesis!!! Really!!!!

Rx8 is a fantastic car. I have owned a 350z and an rx8 and there is no doubt in my mind that rx8 is the better handling, reliable and more comfortable as compared to its counterpart. Futhermore petrol mileage of nissan and rx8 are comparable.
Bare in mind that in uk both of these cars are similiarly priced and even then 350 is a total flop there.

The reason some people get trouble with rx8 is because people don't know how to keep a car in good shape. All imported cars in pakistan were not designed for 40c plus temperature and extreme amounts of dust here. So you have to take good care of the car and you will never regret it.In UK and usa; many people have run this car more than a 100k miles. Tells you something about the reliability if you take care of it.

So here are good maintenance tips for everyone who is interested.

If you are serious about an rx8. Don't buy a roughed up local version, get a car that has been genuinely taken care of (the price the owner demands is usually a good indicator:).

Never ever rev the car up without properly heating it and never ever drop clutch at 7000 rpm or else you should have a clutch plate handy.

Always Red Line (i.e. rev to 9k rpm) once a day. It keeps the injector free of carbon.

Every Tank Fill should consist of 15 litre HOBC (98 Octane) + 35 litre regular (88 Octane). This makes the overall octane count of 91 which is as per rx8 standard. Any more HOBC is simply waste of money.

Always leave about 10 litres of fuel in the car. Keeps the fuel pump safe.

Do all the following maintenance practices the first time you purchase the car and change as mentioned in the below list. You will never have any trouble with the car ever in your life.

Oil change: 2,000k miles (Caltex Havoline Formula). Never Use Synthetic lubricant.
Coolant Change : 20,000 miles or once a year
Gear Oil Change : 20,000 miles or once a year
Differential Oil Change :10,000 miles or once a year
Spark Plug Change : 15,000 miles
Ignition Coil Change : 25,000 miles (but keep spares on hand just in case)
Front Brake Pad change : inspect every 15k miles , change as needed.
Air filter change : 10k miles clean every tank Fill
Tyres : 20k miles
Tyres Rotate : 10k miles
Battery :20k Miles
Ignition Wires:30k miles

Very valuable and useful information for RX-8 users, im myself one of the RX-8 owner and am already following most of the above mentioned tips. i rather change oil(20-50 non synthetic) and oil filter every 1000km. Maintainance of this particular car makes the difference in price as i know i can get RX-8 half of my cost price but then i ll ve to dump it in my garage after a month's use or so due to extreme wear n tear already suffered by the users who dont know ABC of maintainence, which i ve already suffered n sold one for 1 million. My friend had recently sold out his car with meter reading of more than 163K kms in excelent condition as he also followed the maintainence tips and is still being enjoyed by the next user in the same condition with not a single trouble. It is actually hearsay which makes the people comment rubbish who ve themselves seen the car from the distance. EVO-Vii having the same Lancer shape so no eyecatching, supras, MR-2,X and GTOs are most of the vintage models with very old looks, Coupen is just a small dinky car (sorry to their owners) but good RX-8 and 350 Z surely pushes most of the people to give a 2nd look by virtue of their awsome looks/ shape

brother i agree with u...we have seen some failures in islmabad of rx8 around 3...and it was all about low maintanace with thier car...other wise mazda say another story

i dont recomand to buy a locally used car..when u buying such thing and u have the option of importing 1....

and sepending so much mony...that car is not worth it....

i dont own it...m a student...but yet i have drove this car..been in it for sometimes...nothing really to say that its handling is bad or comfort wise.....its perfect as much u need......

i didt cheaked it without traction control...cuz that needs really good hand on RWD car...and which i dont have

but as said in start of topic...when talking of power..its batter to buy car like i mentioned a civic with k20 will be batter.....now m not comparing civic with rx8....its about the power we lookin at.....

if MAZDA Rx8 was a local car.....then at that time the view can be changed.....as the cost would have been very low

but still it all comes down to the owner of car..what he likes to come up with

just gives u an example of AHAD civic....may he dont know me personally but i have spooted his car.....and that i s much batter buy then rx8...in terms of HEAD TURNER

a civic is wht u will do up with kits and a noisy silencer which some might turn there heads a rx8 will make no efforts just drive in one and ppl will turn heads personley i liek a car for myself not to showoff and turn heads just the drive pleasure is for me only! the rx8 as had one can say doesnot bite nor dents ur wallets its a 2.6 wht yaa expect its not 1.3 with cng on it will drink fuel also tht 2 highoctane well atleast abit of it! anycar be it a alto even if yaa takecare of it it will last you and wont take yaa too garage everyday! maintain it as rx8 does require a oil change every 2000-2500 km air filter, oil change reqularly brakes check as they dont start it is delicate compare to nissan which will go even with problems it will get yaa there mazda will also do tht just will compalin! but then which sports car looks gr8 fits 4 comforatbly, has four doors also evo and wrx are saloons not sport cars!

It is highly unfair comparing civic or any other saloon car with a dandy sports car. No matter how much one modifies his civic, it will remain a civic which one can find at every 2nd meter of the road. Same is true for any other locally manufactured saloon car and to some extent all the saloon cars as compared to RX-8 or any other sports version.

Obsolete models of supra, giving better performance than RX-8 by virtue of their much more hp is no wonder, even a saloon car or any other vintage or new sports car with 300+ hp can perform better, but once it comes out to the looks of a car, supra seems to be a car like modified 1982 lancer with absolutely old vintage looks as compared to latest models of sports car like RX-8, 350Z.

I've seen a guy selling his RX-8 on pakwheel and it was looking so amazing in silver color. I recently bought civic-05 but i sure will try to move to RX-8 sometime later. It has so much more of charisma in it as compare to similar over-priced new models of civy n rollas...

all mazda cars are different.some people simply do not understand mazda cars although they have some of the best driving dynamics.and the rx series are the best.in my books mazda will always be a winner.i have kept a 280zx,300zx and different models of rx-7s.the rx-7s were always more agile and mre fun to drive.

RX8 is a good car. I was against it but oh boi ... its FUN to drive.

Half the RX8s get screwed up because people run oil for 5000+km on them and rev them to 9000rpm the minute they start the bloody things.

Slight bit of body mods on an RX8 and oh boi these things look GOOD. And are good.

The only downside is that in Pakistan, no one can really touch the rotary engines so you gota be realllllly careful with these.

Rx8 is just not a good performer, i owned a Mazda 240sx and 280zx, they were the best mazdas i have ever driven, but the rx8 is just not the legendary Rx series.......

we're talking about HEAD TURNERS not about the better, more reliable engines..RX8 has surely got the looks, the ride is very comfortable as compared to the hyundai coupe, 350, experienced it..
as far as comparing it to a supra is concerned, most people dont have the lush body kits for supras here, so they are still old school as compared to rx8's stylish exterior..u can bet any normal guy would chose a rx8 over a supra or an evo any given day, if talkinkg about the stock looks! evoz and supras are no doubt great cars, but belong to a different category all together, the looks of an evo and a supra are dull!

i had an rx8 in 2007 n at that time it was a serious headturner at that time n still when in a traffic jam theres an rx8 the young generation do have a look at it atleast for 1 time n drool overt!
poster is talkin about looks so we should stick to it n not involve evos, zs n supras performances!
but my rx-8 ended up pretty badly =(
