Have you been to this area? Zafarwal itself is hardly 20 minutes drive from the actual border line. I have gone to the last point at the perimeter defined by Pakistan Army.

The evening was spent with friends / neighbours while eating delicious fat-enriched food and enjoying the cold weather. (H) There is no match for drinking Peshawary Qahwa sitting near fireplace during extreme winters of Punjab.

I love winters of Punjab- however summers there are intolerable—especially with no electricity most of the time.

Day Nine: 28th December 2009 - Zafarwal

After consuming the 'body builder's' breakfast:), we took 2.0D to the tyre shop.

This is how our destroyed tyre looked like

The tyre shop owner was a very nice person. Most people we meet in rural areas all over our country are very cooperative and helpful. He checked the spare tyre and asked me who ‘Allah wala’ person gave it to you. The spare tyre is almost new with only one puncture in it. It was Dunlop LeMans with a little difference in width. The tyre shop owner removed this tyre from spare rim and fixed it on alloy rim. He checked it thoroughly and told me to drive with this setup to Karachi. Another used tyre with tube inside was fixed on the spare rim.

During this conversation, I called my friend Suhail in Karachi. Suhail is a very dear friend and runs a tyre / rim outlet (Suhail Autos 021-3223-0403) in Garden area. I narrated the whole story to him without mentioning that the problem has been solved. Suhail said the same thing. “Fix the spare tyre on alloy rim, get one old tyre for spare wheel and drive to Karachi.” I asked him yaar three tyres will be Dunlop SP300 while one LeMans. He said, “We will take care of it once you are here.”

In these areas alwasy ty to keep safe time with you as starting part of night is very dangerous after 11PM of night till morning its again no problem.

After going through 'mission tyre' me and friends went out for drive in the nearby areas.

During this tour we also attended Janaza of a friend of my host. The deceased was hardly 22 years of age and was known in his village for his vigorous as well as gallantry behavior. Inna Lillaa-he-wa-inna-Ileihe-Raajayoon. I felt sorry for such a young death—but this is a system of Allah that he has decided life spans for everyone.

The photography was done by friends and thanks to them we missed to capture the memories of crossing a small canal, many mud tracks and rain streams :(. On asking, they simply said they forget to photograph while enjoying the real adventure. (I should have taken Mrs. RZ with me :))

The areas we visited include: Darmaan, Barra Pind, Jarpaal, Suraj Chakk, etc. Sharing the photographs with you however, I am unable to remember the exact locations in photographs.

Renovation and expansion of the Yadgar has been completed by 109 Engineers Battalion under the direction of Major General Jahangir Khan GOC 8 division in October 2008.

The hunting dog (Pointer) of my dear friend.

According to wikipedia, A pointing breed is a type of gundog typically used in finding game. Gundogs are traditionally divided into three classes: retrievers, flushing dogs, and pointing breeds. The name pointer comes from the dog's instinct to point, by stopping and aiming its muzzle towards game. This demonstrates to the hunter the location of his or her quarry and allows them to move into gun range. Pointers were selectively bred for dogs who had abundant pointing and backing instinct. They typically start to acquire their hunting instincts at about 2 months of age. Many need further training to hold steadily at all appropriate times until released by the hunter.
