Do you know have any idea what the braking distance or reaction times are when you are driving at 140km/hr? In a car it is about 185 meters. that means from the time you see the obstacle to the time you apply the brakes to the time the car stops you have covered a distance of 185 meters. This is for a car on four wheels with ABS. Now compare this with a bike on two wheels. It could easily have gone 300 meters before coming to a stop, if the driver somehow managed to keep it in control at that speed.
The fact that they crashed into a car that was driving on the wrong side does not even matter in this equation. It could have been a pothole, a dog crossing the road, a brick lying on the road, any one of these things could have sent them racing to their death. They pushed their luck like they might have done several times before, but somehow, that day it ran out.
