Sep 2-4&10-14 2011: Kaghan Valley; A trip to 12 Lakes & Preparation trek of Miranjani

Both treks are beautiful but Miranjani has more feel of wild jungle than Mukshpuri.

On Mukshpuri trek, there is a park, a mini zoo and quite a few directional boards and its easier too.

Miranjani trek is around 4.25km and rises from 7,650ft to 9700ft.

Mukshpuri is around 3 km and rises from 7,950ft to 9,200ft.

I reached Miranjani top in 2hr 10min while Mukshpuri is around 1hr 15min.

Theoratically on a clear day, u should be able to see Nanga parbat from Miranjani top but i have never seen it myself or any pics giving the proof. On internet, the distance to Nanga Parbat is mentioned to be around 400km which is wrong. Actual peak to peak distance is around 175km.

You need to look towards North East and try binoculars. if Nanga Parbat can be seen then it will be rising high above any of the surrounding mountains because its a lone King of the area ... or should i say Queen

I went there at peak season of flowers which made the trip very memorable.

I did Meeran Jani, Trek 2nd time on 06.06.2011... It was start of the greenary... even in June...

Just keep enough water bottles with u as there are no fresh natural mineral water streams on these treks like Kaghan valley.

Ofcourse, i would say that Canon EOS Rebel T2i (550D) is the Best (H)

I use Canon Landscape scene mode with maximum colour and contrast settings. Infact sometimes i have to tone down the colours. Also, i shoot RAW and adjust the white balance in ACR.

The same functions can be performed with Adobe Lightroom as well but i am more used to ACR.

From the point in above pic, its quite steep climb for next one hour or so.

But the scenic treat gets better n better
