Yes it is more reliable and easy to maintain.than a c class for which you will get bills of lakhs from shahnawaz and yes toyota ranks higher in reliability than mercedes @topiC dont go camry.go for e class instead

In reliability. Mercs are far more better than toyotas. Mercs are designed to run for much longer period of time than toyotas. Im pretty shocked that you even compared mercedes with toyota.
Yes maintenance is high but once the part is replaced. It wont break down for years. Its not like toyota/Honda that you will have to replace parts again after year or two.
And surprised at people too who are comparing a civic with camry. Camry is better than civic in all aspects. But its a turtle with 2.4 engine.

don't buy a camry. buy a brand new civic or a toyota corolla, and the money left over, invest it, or get a vigo champ - as stated in this thread, buy a brand new car, negotiate for 1 year free maintenance.

In reliability. Mercs are far more better than toyotas. Mercs are designed to run for much longer period of time than toyotas. Im pretty shocked that you even compared mercedes with toyota.

and btw, how many merc have u ever owned? and do u've idea what is maintenance cost?

.... in a country with turtles (civics and rolla's), Camry is the fast... just drag it with any of your suggested cars and you'll know..
@mwm749 : if u ever want a peace of mind, don't look back go ahead and buy Camry.... in Dubai, there are more then 6,000 camry's (RTA Taxis') running with mileage as much as 800,000 and are still running strong...

My dear friend, being in the field of diagnosing cars I have expereinced that by far camry is the best choice in Pakistan. Just look at the statictics worldwide how many cars are sold by toyota and how many by mercedes. Mercedes has a road presence, yes but it has no reliability at all. Most of the time you will se the warning on the odo "go to workshop / Service" and you will end up paying a fortune for nothing.
If you want piece of mind than go for camry and enjoy million miles on it. If you want to waste your weekends than go for merc or a poorly manufactured local honda.
and for those who are saying "camry ki drive nahi hae" i suggest them to drive it first. suni sunai agay chalane ka koi faida nahi. Comparing local crap civic with camry does not make any sense as the class is totally different. you can compare camry with an accord not a new civic. New civic has a stiff suspension and you would soon be found in a clinic having your backache diagnosed. Camry offers excellent road grip, reliability is unmatched, aircond is excellent(dual), mileage is superb and yes it is more safer than many local crappy cars.
some of the diagnosis req on fancy mercs(last month only)

1. Change all 4 ABS sensor / brake pad sensor, after changing brake pads it popped up
2. AC gas recharging req, no cooling (many cars)
3. AC compressor gone due to excessive temp
4. DEnso installed, now AC fine
5. No Automatic transmission oil level low warning sensor. Transmission gone(even suzuki has it)
6. Fan shrouds broken coz cheap plastic melted
7. one Merc classic has engine blow at 50,000 miles, whole engine bay has oil deposits.
8. One 2005 merc has hot and cold air mixed, passengers were melting. air con system is confused in this weather. Car still at workshop
9. Driver side power window switch burnt, new one at 190GBP, car is 5 years old
10. One car has suspension problem, makes it harder and softer on its own
11. The air inlet pipe broke due to temperature, new one at 20,000/-

The above problems are from multiple cars in the last month from a workshop that I know.

New civic has following flaws

1. Left side Axle will come loose from many cars resulting in excessive damage to car, occupants
2. Car will loose alignment after few hundred km,s
3. Poor average on petrol
4. Cramped interior
5. Cramped boot

Mark x

1. Very sporty , excellent handling, will eat more fuel than camry
2. No technical, manufacturing flaws except its too low for pakistani roads, you can keep it is a second option though if you are unable to find a camry

Let me add one thing, its not that any other manufacturer has less reliable cars, every car, whether german, american, korean, chinese or japanese is a reliable car: means it will not leave u stranded in the middle of the road.

Merc are reliable cars but they have more expendables/consumables. You'll have to frequent workshop more then the other rivals. There are more thing to enjoy in a Merc/BMW but there are much more things to go worse and that too quite quickly, eventually it becomes a drain on your pocket.

& btw, my last 2 Merces (E320 & S320) were better at Bar-B-Q, means they both self-destruct' themselves... thats another point to ponder

u r an old member dont u know the rules ? U just cannot talk against Hondas even a honda cd 70 with tripple sawaree can win against a v6 crown :mad:.
