Hired a jeep from Kel to Shounter also known as upper Domail. Different jeep walaas might cost different. this is a highly scenic 3 hours jeep ride passing through lush green fields of Kel, glaciers and waterfalls. before upper domail is lower domail from where starts the trek to Chitta Katha lake and in between these two stops is a small lake known as Shounter lake.
weather wasn't clear and it was raining. we reached Upper Domail at 12pm. this place is also the base camp of Hari Parbat peak which is second highest peak of Azad kashmir. this place was so beautiful that it wasn't fair to leave this place without staying for couple of hours. plus we had no trust in weather and we were told that we will find our porters and guides from upper domail. so it was necessary to stop here for lunch and gather some important information about the trek and conditions on the pass.
We had only raw information about this trek before, so we almost didn't know much. we had to ask people and plan accordingly.
a guy named Bashir had fixed his 3 camps here and basic facilities for the tourists. he invested in that point for the tourists mostly coming for Chitta Katha or Shounter top. he migrated here from Kel just a few days ago.
We had our Lunch. and Weather started to change again. Clouds all over.
Weather window was clear after few hours. so it wasn't wise to trek for a couple of hours to the shounter top and put camps in the middle of nowhere. We decided to stay there for the night and find out porters through Bashir Sahib. Make sure for the weather and push for the top.
