3-phase are stupidily faster than single phase. You can install a new 3 phase for about 50k, while single phase for just about 10k max.. so if meter burns out, one has to pay heavy bux too for replacement... The myth about 3 phase faster imp per KWH is also true. The only advantages of 3 phase:
1) You can change to any phase (done by professional electrician only) if one or two phases trip
2) You can run heavy loads (upto 10KW on each)
3) You can avail the property of net metering (if you plan to sell your solar energy to the govt. )
P.S. you can install more than one single phase meters in one building
So my opinion is just go for single phase and save a lot of your hard earned money.
