Rs. 4500 with fuel is very reasonable but I doubt that we will get this rate. Both Fahim and us are thinking of crossing the Deosai plain and leave the jeep in Astore or Raikot bridge. So the jeepwalas will charge extra as they will boast that they will go back alone..... If the starting and ending location is the same then the jeep fare might be some what low...

hmmm, i think you are right...because jeep wala would ask that he has to go back with empty jeep and he will charge for it...

no fahim bhai i didnt mean meetha as in sweets, i meant as in the fruit, it has almost same shape and texture as orange, only diff is that its colour is green, and it tastes quite bitter, punjabi for mithay. google it for sweet lime.

thats great, lots of info sharing going on here, , , and i was looking for this too....
Am also planning to go with my friends....but am not sure where, and where are the most scenic places (Gilgit or Skardu) as i am a little inclined towards Deosai.
And how much it will cost to stay there for atleast 5 days. as we will be leaving from peshawar.
And mind you "we dont want to spend too much on luxuries" just a simple hotel or maybe a camp will do as good as a five star hotel

We are also planning to go there in second week of June. But we are planning to go on Foker plane from Islamabad to Gilgit. I heard it costs only 4500 rs. per head.
Anyone have any experience with this please share.

yes, gilgit is almost 700km from islamabad via KKH...

Islamabad - Abbottabad - Mansehra - Thakot - Besham - Pattan - Sazib - Chillas - Gilgit

its about 17-18 hrs journey...
