Sold a car but it is still registered on my name

Hi guys, just wanted to get a quick opinion over something. I sold my GLi 2009 model almost 10 months back to a friend on open letter, he then sold it to some other guy over the same open letter, and I have no idea where the car is now. but I was concerned of any illegal activity happening so today I thought of blocking the transfer process/registration. I went up to the local excise office and they requested for a stamp paper with all the details mentioned. Is this the right way? or does anyone have a different opinion?

Yes, this is the right way. As long as you have got the proper stamp paper with all the details showing that you have sold the car to someone else, you're on the safe side.

I also sold my car to some1 almost 2 years back. Car is still on my name, what can i do. I am in islamabad and car is in karachi, also I lost the stamp paper which was the only proof of sold car. any idea what can be the best solution without getting an FIR launcehed of theft which i think is the las resort to save myself atleast

Hi guys, so a little update for anyone coming in with the same issue:

I went to the local excise office today, they asked me to get a Rs.50/- stamp paper and write the detail on it (the story that I sold my car and it is still on my name, Kindly block/suspend the registration). I did that, came back and got it attested and then signed by the ETO. the application was then submitted and the vehicle was suspended within minutes! taa-dah!

In which city you are and how much total expenses came?

District Layyah, 100 PKR for the stamp paper (50 PKR. for Idk what reason) and 200 Rs. for the writing on the stamp paper by the person at the local court. Altogether 300 PKR.

yes sir it is correct procedure to block time barred transfer.

Kindly brief a little that where you get it attested? Either from the ETO office itself or from outside anywhere from a gazetted officer?

Any gazetted officer, but the ETO officer needs to stamp it in the end as well.

Walaikum Assalam, wait till 1st January onwards biometric will be mandatory of owner to transfer the vehicle, may be current owner will transfer before deadline provided by Excise if not then you may block it after 1st
