Sound proof room

Hello!
I am living in a home which is in market area.
My home is surrounded by shops like welding, bakery and a "Peti-wala"( Big boxes of iron for storage).
Now i m annoyed and disturbed by the noises like continuous hammering by peti-wala, welding machine noise, traffic passing noise, noise of bakery machines and vibration of their big ovens.
i want to make my room sound proof so can anyone guide what is the procedure and costs involved?
my room has three doors( wood door which opens in hall, wood door of washroom, iron door which opens in gallery) and one small window.

If you want to make the sound proof than you have to think for the ventilation as well..

there are commercial sound deadening materials available and there are DIY stuff as well. you can have polyester quilts made and hang them on windows, use wood paneling on the walls and put polyester/namda type stuff behind it for sound deadening as well

Just buy some cotton buds, put in your ears and every thing will seems to you sound proof....maximum effieciency with minimum effort(H)

i have the same concerns , but in the reverse direction ,

i live in quite a peaceful locality , so the sounds from my room should not go out , and disturb others ,

agar iska koi hal ho kisi ke pass tuo please mention it .

See if you can find a gunj glass outlet/dealer......they have all sorts of solutions. Though expensive but every penny is worth it.

i dont think it will work that great, since sound can easy travel through the walls (especially the vibration and hammering)
You might have to insulate the walls too (mb floor and ceiling too), not just doors and windows. Approach some professional services they will guide you good

It does work great without any 12'' solid steel plates embedded in my house in UK ; (However you are welcomed to contact people living under flight path at heathrow of foogle it). Understanding that Pakistan is a place where technology itself could get Khajal Kharab bcoz of endless poss and sometimes reverse engineering like my kettle(which remained so faithful for last 5years) due to hard water within 1st month of paki time and I had to take out the self stopping mechanism now have to look for jet of steam to rush towards power point in time lol, anything is possible especially imagining if my ex start hammering it with a 5kg sledge type......to wake me up after a heavy Saturday nite Job. Being a lil generous this could reduce your work load maty.

well obviously it doesn't have to be steel to make something sound proof

What i meant is that if he is living such close to this high level of sound pollution and needs a sound proof room, he might have to add materials to the walls too. Sometimes using just double glazed windows can work, sometimes it wont. It all depends on the level of noise he is getting and how much he wants to reduce it

I'm guessing you're a student whose taken up temporary residence at a low income location. If that is the case then either change your accommodation to a better place or try to live with the noise. Because doing anything to deaden or lessen the noise will only attract unwarranted attention to your finances. But if you still want to go ahead with it then first check with the others living in and around your building and then take the necessary steps.
This little activity will also give you an idea as to what kind of people are living around you.

did not underztand that line...it must be some symbolic language...

google for sound deadening/absorbing materials and techniques. when you figure out all the variables/factors, search for pdfs on the subject, what ever you don't understand, just put ".pdf" after it and enter in google, results will be full of researches/studies and course materials uploaded by various universities/institutes/organizations. Be prepared to go through 100s of pages of stuff you never heard of. keep doing this for a week or so, you'll understand the basics of the topic. After that you should know what to do.

that is one of the very few productive ways of using the internet that I know of...and it works, especially that pdf part.

I produce music, so i've done a lot of research about sound-proofing rooms etc for my music studio. There are ways to do it but none of them are cheap. Windows/doors as someone already suggested double glazing etc. For walls you'll need to cover them with 4" thick high density rockwool. Rockwool isn't cheap though, but it's great at absorbing sound/heat hence why it's used in construction as insulation material.
