Speed radar detectors

well guys i have a Whistler Radar that came originally with my dad,s porsche in States and now i hv it...

it works damn good...only once i was fined on motorway for overspeeding ....

it has got

1. X band detedtion
2. K band detection
3. Ka band
4. Laser
5. Vg1
6. Vg2
7. Pulse detection

also it has highway info,s (ATM,s Hotels , dangers etc) not in Pakistan.
a button to keep u awake at night to avoid sleepin while drivin.... u have to press it every 1 min otherwise it alarms.
got a female voice warning of radars etc.

also detects if checked from behind

my friend wanted one and we got a source in karachio but he was askin for 25,000Rs although its cheap abroad.

Laser is faster in detectin ur speed so reaction time is very less.

K band and other radars have stray rays so warning is givn well advanced and speed can be slowed.

ny one wanna see it...in pindi, isloo...be my guest...

i have heard of Laser jammers but they are expensivr almost 1000 Pounds .

well this 1 in da display is for 13000rs so it is xpensive but just think how much tickets it will be saving ya.

I currently have a road angel system here in the UK, it works on GPS, as I approach a speed camera or any other known location where cops are with their radar detectors it gives a loud audible warning followed by a lights show on the unit itself.

I dont think gps devices are available in PK, most probably radio detectors are being used.

I use Cobra XRS 9330. Bought the radar detector from the States last year.
Works like a charm :D. It's a 12 band radar detector with a 360 degree sweep.
Has saved me lotsa speeding tickets on M2 Motorway.

@Mikz just want to know when you were in the States did your system ever give you any false alarms, like when you drive past a supermarket or bank, as the automatic doors which are used in these kind of places have the same radio frequency used in speed detectors.

Yes it sure did. Yes those sorta places confuse the detector. I think 10% were false alarms when i drove from Chicago to Toronto. (I think the radars r banned in Ontario, but i took a chance anyways lolz)
It has given me a few false alarms in Pakistan as well.
In Isloo near Kulsum Plaza (Mobilink building) on Constitution Avenue.
and in Lahore .. the Paktel building in Garden Town.
The only reason i had switched it on in Lahore was cuz i was coming back from M2.

Dont waste your time or money on these things, and drive the proper speed limit to be safe at all times.

These radar/laser detectors give you a false sense of security. They beep often for no reason and you will find yourself hitting your breaks for nothing, and after a while you will begin to ignore them!

Also usually by the time they beep you dont have time to slow down.

Anyway, the ONLY reason I can see for having this is that if a policemen DOES stop you, you at least know he isnt lieing and he did clock your speed. If your radar/laser detector didnt make a single beep at all and you get stopped and he says you were going such and such speed, you can argue for proof and they will probably back down (in pakistan). In USA you will have to go to court and even then the policeman will write on the ticket you had a radar detector in your car which is proof that you like to speed all the time in which case the judge will not side with you.

Be safe, dont speed!

People with radar detectors get more tickets than people without:D

Most of these products dont work, and when you find out they dont work it'll be too late - the police will have ticketed you.

Save your money and your life - just drive at the speed limit.

I had cobra but Rocky Mountain is the best! It detect cops 2-4 miles ahead of time

yes driving at speed limit is always advisable.
just having the radar makes the trip more interesting esp on the motorway .. cuz its a long boring drive .. hehe
i like the cat and mouse game with PMP

waisay, abroad on the interstate, you get to notice the cop a couple of km's ahead of you because their speed detectors are continuously painting the motorists, but over here on M2 i have noticed when the traffic is thin they paint your car when you are close by. so yes, u can get fined ..

Just mobile signals. Here i am getting radio signals too

there u dont lose signals of your mobiles anywhere, but here on motorway we dont really get signals all the way, so when reach to bad area and dont hv signals, it doesnt beep, but it gives alarms when get the signals back

Innitially I assume that some cops detecting in 1 km area, but when I checked closely, it was mobile signals
