nice missing Edinburgh now, but not the rain! did u take the A1 & then M90 to inverness or M6 route? the drive is gr8 no doubt just A1 is boring too many speed restriction the new astra is a nice car but i prefer the focus instead for a rental.

Yes we took the A1, M90 when we were going and then A6 when we were coming back to Sheffield.
We opted for the Ford focus but it wasn't available so the rental company upgraded us to the next car available - which was this one.
It was amazing though, very economical and good torque for driving on hills etc in Scotland.
In UK I found that the speed restrictions are more of a drama. People are driving at 90 mph without getting caught. We were driving on the speed limit and almost everyone was overtaking us.

just realized ur name is Omar & so is mine!! yeah ur right its like Pakistan motorway drive around 90mph until u see a copers or camera but its safe 80 is alright just have to watch around! might ne headin to Scotland next month myself! I used to have the new astra diesel as a company car did u see the handbrake buton tiny!!

here's a pic of our cars interior (taken from the net). It had a normal handbrake
the speed limit is enforced more strictly in central UK and near london. U hardly see any cops or cameras in scotland, especially if you take the A/B roads.

got back from UK. this time, we couldn't get a hire car on pakistani licenses (like we did in 2012) and we didn't have our international licenses... so my uncle included us in his cars insurance policy and gave us his car ....

it was a mercedes E250 CDI estate with panoramic roof .. and it was huge!!!

it was so huge and felt a bit more wide as well, so we were a bit apprehensive taking it on B roads on a road trip to wales

the gear lever was where the indicator stalk is in PKDMS. that took a bit getting used to

the navigation system of the car was okay, but we preferred the Garmin 42 LM navigation system i purchased from Halfords, it was more reliable than the Mercs navi and gave accurate and timely directions of which roundabout exit to take (roundabouts are very tricky in Uk and you've to be sure beforehand which exit to take)

loved the orange interior lights of the estate, it looks really nice at night .
