Above shots were taken with Nokia 808 PureView.

Once we settled down ... i took out my camera gear and after finishing the set-up, did the first test shot of the night

I didn't do much noise reduction to keep maximum stars in the shots so these pics may look grainy

The night was clear but not perfect and ambiance light on the horizon was a bit too much to take ground perspective shots.

A closer look at galaxy band.

This is not the thickest part of galaxy and is the thinner side arm. The thickest galaxy part was still below the horizon and was supposed to be out after 2 a.m.
