Do admit that you live in pakistan and we are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy behind the competitive automobile markets of the world.
First of all the total market for vehicles in pakistan is more or less 150000/year in which pak suzuki share is almost 70000 vehicles per year whcih equates to roughly 5500 cars per month when divided to number of models then it is near to nothing.
Now compare this situation with an indian example.
Out of many many automobile companies in India Hyundai comes to fourth or maybe fifith place, even in recent recesion infested days they are selling Hyundai I10 car with monthly volume of 15000 (more than 2.5 times of total production volume/month of pak suzuki).
The most interesting fact is this that even when they are selling their cars in lacs not in thousands quantity the prices are not cheap or the quality either.
Now i know that what u will said that in india the same mehran is selling for ---- rupees which is less then Pakistan. (my dear brother India and Pakistan are not same markets their 1 rupee = 1.85 pakistani rupee
In india one dollar = 50 indian rupee
They have now the largest share in iron industry arround the world , thus means raw material (whcih comprises of 50% of total weight of car) very cheap.
In Pakistan even if the automobile companies are surviving then it is a matter of pure courrage and appreciation to their efforts.
As for the new models even in india they are making most of the pakistans models like old margalla , mehran , alto , hiroof, pickup to name a few. (and they are making most of the profit from the same old models as compare to the new ones. They are making new ones only for the sake of dirty competition which is going on in their country from new arivals like opel, ford, gm, chevrolet and many more)
To develop a new model means a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggeeeeeee investment from both side i.e from OEM companies as well as Local vendors which in nowadays time is almost impossible.
If you are talking about the poor performance of local assemblers then look youself first.
Ask yourself that what new you have done for the trade in whcih you are in, then you will find that you are wayyyyyyyyyyyyy behind the first world countries. Then what to do ,is it better to turn off your trade , automobile industries, then what next our sick garment indusry , then import cheap medicines from china as our local pharmaceuticals are no longer compettive in terms of price.
Think it breefly and consider the situation as half glass full instead of empty.
And by the way ask the new mehran owner that why he is buying the mehran for close to 5 lacs when he can get 1999 vitzor 1996 vti in same money , the simple question is because of manyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy things like petrol consumtion , extreemly cheap parts , extreemly cheap mechanic rates (a complete overhaul of engine will take the same as the head work of vitz does)
