@ahm13
I live in Karachi and that's on the superhighway.
But 210 was achieved on a slope. Kids don't try this at home

@memphis Yar i got the alpine pre which comes with corolla, using fm transmitter for usb.
Saw a clear stretch of road and decided to open my steermatic's legs today. The acceleration is amazing, though i havent had any rides which boasted fast accelerations so i have nothing much to compare to but the response i got after flooring the gas pedal brought a smile on my face. Looking forward to have some friendly runs with my cousins altis.
@Everyone who maybe interested in conversion of their steermatics to cng
I am in the process of gathering information about cng in steermatic. First hand information is hard to come by as steermatic is a rare breed of city and ones converted to cng are even rarer. I think those seeking any such information would have heard about tranmission break downs. Interestingly almost all of such transmission failures have been reported on vario. I checked with my local honda dealer if he had seen any steermatic with transmission failures and he replied in the -ve. Apparently the CVT in steermatic and vario, even though mechanically identical, has one fundamental difference, this being the use of ECU to controll CVT in the former. I have asked logas(in his thread) if this is of any advantage for conversion to cng.(lets hope he replies)
For now i am just seeking information to reach an informed decision and do not plan to install cng in the near future. However, with fuel prices going northwards of 90$/barrel, the only reason keeping fuel prices in check in Pakistan is that the current year is an election year.
My intial survey indicates that there is reason to be optimistic for all those interested in the conversion.
bluntknife: excellent post dude!!!!
i am with you all the way....am also interested in CNG for my steermatic but if 2 conditions are met:
Should be a good and clean CNG installer and will not dent or scratch my car in the installation process
My steermatic will not break down after CNG

went to Honda for 10000km service on this weekend, all went well. I was experiencing some sound from the insulation rubber of the driver door. The mechanic took the car to the body shop. The person there gave 2,3 pushes to the upper portion of the door, and the problem was solved. I was planing to change the spark plugs but the already installed plugs were in imaculate shape so I droped the idea of changing them. Will put iridium plugs in it but after the car completes 20000km.
Ok guys heres the thing...i dont think you should use the steermatic on CNG....i will tell you why:
1) this car is a gem....enjoy it....why kill the joy of ownership simply coz u want to save a few bucks.....trust me i have had different cars on CNG for 7 yrs and it just kills the car....in the long run maintenance costs are significantly higher
2) CNG is a pain in the ass
3) The VTEC kicks in past 2800 rpm....CNG is optimal till 3500 rpm.....this means u hardly use the vtec properly....why .....why i ask.....would you want to castrate a beautiful machine?!?!?!
4) Lastly if you cant afford petrol go buy a i-dsi u dont need a vtec for that....or better still buy a suzuki....and you can have all the fun you want on CNG, somethings are just the way they are.
In short nakhray waali bachhi phansai hai...to nakhray uthao nai to get ready to be dumped
@saadu, you seem quite agressive in your approach, and I agree with you as this car is also agressive in its approach. the joy of steermatic is with petrol, you feel the agresion as you push the pedal. If you have ever ridden a horse, you would agree that driving this car is an experience identical to that of riding a horse, sheer pleasure. you feel the power as it takes off. and that is what brings the joy in it
hi guys i m planning to buy this car at first of jan 08 .i just wana know is there any prob that you guys faced .and 2nd is worth its price. and 3rd how dose it work. dose it have and other feature away frm the org city.and dose cng effect it.and what about its power steering is soft on 15 inch rims or not.thank

fso:
steermatic offers:
However, the problems :
@fso, you will be thankful that you bought this car. will you be buying it new or 2nd hand. Also steermatic's production is stopped and its no more available in Islamabad and Lahore, so where will you get it from?
is it confirmed that the production of steermatic has stopped?
@akbargr8Yes, confirmed.
i asked my honda dealer in fsd he said it has not stoped.but another honda dealer in fsd honda chanab said it has stop and he has 2 peices.honda fsd said he has one in cypris blue.but i m planning to buy it 1st week of jan 08 .if the pro stoped are they gonna continue the pro or not.i also asked him if they are releasing new city both of them said no its just a rumour.
@hsnmzbro i m gona buy new ,never bought a old dont know where its been.
@all
guys and gals we have 4 rollas never bought city before do you think its better than xli .dont know why but my dad always buy toyota for some reason all of us hate it.i drove my frnds city 2006 idsi munual and it was prity comf .well my question is if steermatic pro stops due think that city vario would be better.
@ hsnmz
Its not about being aggressive. I just think its common sense...why waste money on something that has an extra price just to bring the car back to what the cheaper model would have given you? i just dont understand why you want to buy something made for better performance and then grade it down for economy....if economy is your concern then go for the model with the economy and save yourself some money.....which is what you want in either case...and......buy a home theater with 5.1 surround for your bedroom and live it up
dude just close your eyes and buy steermatic.....it is light years ahead and better than XLI, GLI
@ retro
CVT might be superior to prosmatic, in terms of comfort and economy, but time will tell how long will it last. as far as powered is concerned, gears/garari are used in every car compared to pullies, so far, CVT has been restricted to low powered cars. lets see how far up the order it can make it.
