Most probably, it is a fake call. But you can not rule out the chances of being a genuine call.
Ask your cousin to ask the caller about the car to make sure that it is his car. He can ask about the Rim brand, Interior, Any sticker on the car etc.
These peoply usually get FIR copies from their resources (In some cases police officers themselves) and ask you for ransom money. They will tell you the Engine No, and Chasis number from the FIR, Car model, colour etc, because all this is written on FIR. Ask them some other things which are not written on FIR and confirm that its ur car.
Even when it is confirmed that its ur car, dont just go there alone. Involve some local people in between to make the deal. Going alone is not safe at all. Best of luck
