Strange issue of heatup/temp needle/sensor

have you ever gunned your engine

not actually familiar with the term, tried google
does it means revving in gear or in neutral?
i dont really rev on neutral except for the mechanics, also i dont rev in gears, max i took it to 5k i think where it shifted gear itself even on full race

If I am not wrong it means flooring the accelerator instantly usually in drive mode

so sudden throttle? like going at a speed of say 40,n u want to pick speed n u floor it or push it?
i avoid even pushing it let alone floor but i may have done that b4 though it wouldnt be flooring suddenly,maybe down shift at max n even when it used to downshift 2 gears i used to let my foot off so it upshifts one time

even now when i want to pick some speed i press race calmly but sometimes it still downshifts, so i let go the race or at times let it pick speed under 3k n then upshift

these days there's no heat up issue, i dont let rpm needle go above 3k, even if push like on kashmir highway i shift at 3k, wid ac i dont let it go above 2k, most of my drive is on kashmir highway, all well
after few days i check water in plastic bottle which is always full i.e till its neck n it really isnt reducing which is a good thing right?
i drive wid n widout ac, mostly at speed of 80-100 on kashmir highway

gunned = go full power in a gear till engine rpm redline - if your engine is not touching the start of redline at full throttle before shifting gears - you have more serious problems.

An engine that has been babied all its life will die shortly as it never self cleans itself.

i thought redlining is harmful for the engine
well u asked if i have ever done, then to answer that yes it has been done
floored it to the metal n let it shift itself
but that was just for first 2 gears as i drive in city, first gear shifted around 58 n second shifted at 110 n then a turn a came up

btw it didnt reached the redline, dont know if auto or pros dont redline, it shifted i think at 6k

i dont do it anymore as that would br eating alot of fuel + this stupid heat up issue which no mechanic is able to solve, atleast driving this way i can still use n push till 3k n even then no heat up but once it starts to heat up then i have to drive very carefully for few days or it starts to heat up beyond 2k or on push
for now i push even till 3k, use ac n no issues

I think you should get in touch with some Peer faqeer bangali baba type person as only he can solve your problem, full moon nights standing in dug up grave on one leg biting off head of a life chicken and doing unspeakable things to it.

today i got tuning done i.e full tuning so thought to check the difference which there was so at night time i was having fun picking up speed shifting at 3k quickly
after 30km nightmare started again, though 2 days i went to rwp n came back n faced no issues
needle started moving up, i started driving slowly but after coming down it again went up so turned off for few min n started again, had to turn off twice even though after first turn off i wasnt going above 2k rpm, n on inclines it was even less than 2k, at 2nd turn off, i checked plastic bottle next to radiator cap, i could hear water boiling :o n see steam coming up

radiator was cleaned in jan this year n head was faced n gasket was changed which was the cardboard one, remember Akaash, the 3s mechanic, i discussed it with him, even he said if engine is weak etc or the block then sometimes cardboard gasket should be used instead of steel one but can only tell after opening the head

m seriously thinking to change the gasket again, it was going fine from quite some time now though with this much fun it did used to move, i.e the needle but in those 2-3 cases i reached my destination so just turned off car n no issues
this time was i wasnt really near to the destination

btw what should be the labour? i'll ask from 3s too, he said 4.2k for gasket n 4k for labour

U knw ur car was running on bonus.ironic part is, it lived out through summers n broke down in winters.if u plan on keeping the car the right person needs to work on it with the genuine gasket only.n a very good facing machine if needed that is.Akash should b charging less then dealership itself.call n check honda i10 for rates

find a learned and experienced mechanic - your problem can be a myriad of issues, I have repaired a lot of such hondas which had the overheating disease with no cure. the ones over the top of my head were

3 or 4 cylinder blocks that had softened enough to pull out the threaded bosses for the cylinder head bolts
10 or 12 with warped cylinder heads and stretched cylinder head bolts
5 or 6 with cracked cylinder head itself.

the engines with the threaded bosses being pulled out required new cylinder blocks because the whole thing was baked to oblivion - their cylinder heads were dead too as they were milled down excessively. Generally speaking the repair costs were not "2 rupay a part"

All in all locate a good technician/mechanic and dont just buy services of the cheapest one you see. If you see something like an eroded block you need a new block - dont think a paper gasket will help, The reason to use a metal one from honda is even temperature distribution.

You can only face the cylinder head once on a honda D engine and it requires it to be very very shiny - almost polished surface, machinists in Pakistan are simply putting them on the old planers and handing you the part with very rough finish.

Can you tell me all these work done from 3s dealership or outside mechanic?

Don't go for cardboard head gasket, it is useless. Use always genuine OEM Head gasket from 3s dealership which is Steel made. Head gasket available in markets are fake and not best for long time.

It is also seems that mechanic didn't tight the bolts of head in right proportional.

the head gaskit u've put will be ashes by now .. for a starter u need to put the metallic one and that too after head facing .. there must be leakage of pressure, oil and water once the head gaskit gives away .. what is the color of radiator liquid and the engine oil .. ?

i remember when i got the gasket changed for first time from my own mechanic, it worked perfectly fine, n my guess is they used cardboard gasket as only thats available from shops mostly
after 2nd heat up, it used to heat up only at high rpms, i went to this G10 guy after seeing the best mech thread here on pw, but he screwed up everything, after that it got even worst instead of getting better

this time i'll go to Akaash (working in Honda 3s)
talked to him as well, asked him to get OEM steel gasket BUT he said he'll have to check the condition first, if the face would be fine enough to hold the steel gasket or not, n if not then cardboard gasket will be used :o
I emphasized on steel gasket only then he told me this thing, n said he'll check the part no n get it from outside after opening the head, so it wont be from honda atleast

even now car is working fine on driving with care n no fun ofcourse

if it was to turn ashes, it would have been already in January as it started to heat up few weeks after changing the gasket back then
for this metallic gasket thing, check the above reply, i dont know what to say anymore after that, the guy is still working in Honda 3s from many years n thats what he said
i use tap water n never open radiator, the pipe next to it has normal coloured water, how to check colour of engine oil

Now it is clear that you use wrong head gasket in your car. OEM head gasket is steel one and hence recommended. Outside mechanic did his job by destroying your car. Actually he mess with your car head.

You have to do once again painful work for your car. Now you have to buy steel head gasket from 3s dealership and I recommend to do this work from 3s dealership that they are using oem and quality parts that lasts long-expensive but having worth.

It seems that head work is not up to mark and now its require again.

firstly - if you cylinder block or cylinder face have corroded or damaged to the point that it cannot seal on its factory provided steel layered gasket you need to repair this problem first rather than installing a paper gasket and praying/hoping/wishing it works. Its a machine and every machine has control specification - the manufacturer has provided that too.
