In past decade or so, one the things which has caused most of the damages, includes social media as well, as there seems to be no seriousness, or prevailing of sanity, etc. there.
Whatever one has in his mind or heart, he / she starts speaking it out, and it mostly goes uncontrolled, uncensored, unfiltered (as no one seems to be there to contain them).
Its said: Controversies make Chaos, but controversies make Cash too! 
As long as a website is getting views due to controversies, stupidity, etc., and its income comes from it, then why would it try to contain it?
Although due to such platforms, Forums have started becoming obsolete, but to me, in the current times, Forums still seem to be one of the Best and Finest options, and a Blessings, when it comes to serious discussion and serious members (although some "Nook Jhook" also goes on the Forums, but its unlike the type on 
social media ).
