So GUYS, everyone living in Karachi how the day of 19 Aug2025 went when the rain downpours and ppl got stuck for hours, cars and bikes engulfed and submerged in water.
Here goes my story when i left office with total 5 ppl in car at 5 in the evening. i got pipe on the silencer already installed as to avoid the water from getting into silencer. the car is AGS 2021 model and done only 41k kms.

As soon as the car hits areas where the water is half the tyre levels, the car give extreme jerks like the clutch is slipping, or maybe gear taking water or maybe the RPM is not working, I had to drive the car on manual most of the time as AGS wasnt going good and giving loads of jerks.

i got stuck in various locations and drove through various areas for approx 4.5 hours with ac on and off, the car AGS started blinking at approx 2 hours and then i had to leave the car to cool off. the car took some water from passengers doors in the back.

but i have avoided areas where water was above bonette level. So guys, heres the story of AGS working in rainy conditions. Maybe other members from Karachi had more bad experiences.......so share please.

Not alto, but it took me 3.5 hours in manual City 2016 to reach highway from II Chundrigar with 3 adults on board. Car took extreme jerks as if engine will pop out of engine bay but i maintained high rpm in 1st gear and nailed it. Conditions were beyon terrible in karachi everywhere.

Hey man, 19th August Karachi was possibly the worst day for my Alto VXL AGS 2022 model. Since my university is on national highway, with extreme downpour it took me a total of 12 hours to reach home. With my car being fully submerged under water for the entire duration. Alhamdulillah so far nothing has been damaged apart from water entering inside the interior of my car till seat level. The car performed exceptionally well but yes, the jerks were insane. I asked every alto vxl driver on my way if they experienced the same thing. And it happened with them too. The car was constantly on high rpms while submerged. Now i cleaned everything up and everything is ok Alhamdulillah except for the water still under the carpet which im constantly pumping out.

Now if anyone has any idea, after water has entered inside the entirety of my interior. What are the next precautionary steps to take to avoid rusting or any other damages apart from Full service cleaning. Please let me know jazakallah.

Personally AGS handled it quite well, it was not switching to 2nd gear while underwater on auto mode and i noticed how it was auto revving to avoid stalling. Did it happen with you too?

HI All.
I have a vxr 2024 alto 15k driven.
My car gear jerks usually when i switch from 5th or 4th gear to 3rd and same from 3rd to 2nd. Only in down shifts.
It's a manual car not ags.
Also i am still using company fitted tyres 145 70 r13?
Should i change it to 175 70 r13 if they don't stand out that much?
and from stand out i mean k ajeeb na lagein or body sy bahr na aein. will be using original rims. I just need better handling and comfort

Extra load on the engine. Max you should go on the 13 inch rims is 155/80/r13. If you want better comfort and ground clearance then 155/65/r14 and oem Japanese alto rims will suit you better.

Hello All,

My car too has been victim of urban flooding, I DIY'ed the interior, washed the carpet and uprooted everything myself, I even took off the front bumper to sort out leaves stuck in the condenser. Back to New.

Only issue is the AC.

I no longer have functioning AC. The car sat for a week after the whole water incident, (while I worked on the interior) , I started a few time to move the car but did not turn on the AC (in fear of the debris getting sucked further into the condenser/radiator) Now I got the condenser washed and cleaned so no more debris, I turned on the ac but there was no cooling. There was some cooling for a second when I was acelerating hard. But overall no AC.

Now I must mention that this car Is a VX version hence no factory AC, we had the driver get the AC installed and afaik, the compressor is an older sander unit. I have noticed that idle sounds a little off, and the sound is coming from the compressor bearing (this is before the compressor clutch engages), so it sounds a little off. Now I also must mention, the cooling overall is very dismal and during peak heat the ac is barely working, (my old cultus performs much better inn peak heat) now this is not the case for the other altos I have sat in that seem to have perfectly good AC. Chilled even.

As of now there is no cooling at all. What do I do and will I have to change the compressor? How much is a new genuine compressor?

We cannot stop water for entering in altos.......now your need to take out the carpet as the alto has thick namda material on both front left and right sides foot wells which will start smelling as water gets old.

goto any seatmaker or poshish wala and ask him to take out everything, wash and rinse the carpet and namda at home or any service wala. let it dry in sunlight for a day or two then install back. if you leave the wet carpet, ot will smell and the body will take as much rust as possible.
do wash the seat railings so that all the dirt and grime is washed away which has come with rain water
when the carpet is out, clean dry the car from inside and let the car in sunlight with windows roll down.
once dry, put all things back.

use some wd 40 in seat railings if required.

get help from ac wala, maybe some thing have hit your condensor which made its gas leaked.
or the compressor has gone faulty due to water damage.

no i drove it in manual so that it should not shift on high rpm.

can anyone confirm How much performance will increase of we use japanese engine intake in PKDM alto instead of the local intake that comes from factory. because the japanese intake is mounted in front bar, whereas the local one opens inside engine room. so there will be a difference of cold and hot intake.

Aoa. I am planning to switch to alto ags vxl probably a used under 50k driven car. My daily commute is between 50 to60km. I get low to medium traffic congestions. I have been hearing ags actuator unit failing issue from many mechanics and a hefty 1.5lac replacement cost. Is it true? any insight form people using it for urban commute daily and have done good mileage on the cars?
