I searched on Google "most reliable small cars in the world" and KIA Picanto was on 3rd!! The major deciding factor will be it's price though..

The launch of KIA Picanto in Pakistan will be the end of Monopoly of Suzuki in small cars sector.
The 1000 CC Picanto would be the real deal breaker.

KIA has already published details about this car on their website for KIA Pakistan. This car is hitting market soon.

Kia and Hyundai are both Korean companies. Hyundai was successful in Pakistan with Santro and Shehzor but KIA was never able to get the customers.

Even with Hyundai Santro in market, Suzuki cars used to sell in high numbers. I don't think Picanto will be a deal breaker but it is good to have more options.

I think kia and Hyundai came on the wrong time and with the wrong mindset. People nowadays want automatic cars that's why Mira and other JDMs got so successful. Now because Picanto is coming in automatic it will be a success(if it's price<1.5mil) as people will prefer it over imported cars which are getting expensive and now the import has also stopped so people have less options. When people can buy used cars of big brands why can't they buy a zero meter car of a big brand??
Also I think that more FAW V2s are sold in Karachi than cultus vxl eventhough FAW is a chinese company.. hence all in all breaking Suzuki's monopoly won't be that difficult if KIA's pricing strategy is not stupid..

FAW missed the bus by not introducing auto variant. They shot themselves in the foot. It would have sold in huge numbers had it been an auto

Keeping in view track record of SUZUKI I believe the stripped down variant might be 970, vxl around 12 lac and ags variant around 14 lac.. as Suzuki is comparing market of new car with Japanese used, so I think there is nothing to be excited about..

In those days people were not fed up of Suzuki bullsh*t.
Now people want change. They are looking for options other than locally produced Suzuki craps. Ever check the Suzuki official FB page and see how people abuse them.
You both are comparing situation of 15 years ago with today.
And by the way KIA cars were not good back than that's why they failed in Pakistan. But on the other hand KIA identical replicas are still damn too successful in Iran because people there got no better choices due to international bans on Country.

Well I think that it's better if they are launching a tried and tested version of Picanto. Infact, Picanto of this version was deemed as the "most reliable car to own" in the UK in 2013 according to Wikipedia.. So they must have put thought into their decision of releasing an older version I guess.. Affordability may also be a factor..
