Can i use 5W 30 Oil in my Alto first oil change from dealer, without voiding the warranty as i am not satisfied with the 10w 40 they recommend on first hand?

Dealer is supposed to put 0w20 from day one. Tell them its recommended in the owners manual.

Unfortunately, the Pakistani owners manual states 10w40 as recommended oil for Alto in Pakistan. The jdm manual however states 0w20. I myself had to fight for myself at the dealership to put 0w20 in my Alto.

absolutely no difference using 10w40 or 0w20.

tested with 02 different brand new altos. same purchase dealership, same maintenance schedule.

one had 10w40 from the start, other had 0w20 from the start

The difference becomes apparent when those engines have done 100k+ kms. The 0w20 running engine still shows good health while the 10w40 engine deteriotes.

Well i was asking for the "mid" grade, 5w 30. what i believe is 10w 40 oil is a bit cheap, has more profit in it so dealers push you to add this. lets see this week i have to visit for oil change.

The oil recommended by Paksuzuki in the manual is recommended by Suzuki Japan based on local conditions.

Switched to 5W30 from 10W40. Marked difference in engine noise, acceleration, smoother ride, engine does not struggle on steep climbs. Average increases from 23 to 25 as per onboard meter.
Infused 1000 rupees worth of high octane while filling the tank. Tire pressure 32.

Yes, dealerships accept it usually and gives 0w20 by price difference which is the right viscosity.
Yes difference between 0w20 and 5w30 or 10w40 will be evident after 100k km when oil pump will be weaken by circulating heavy oil continuously over passage of time. That will make your engine little noisy and less responsive in comparison with Alto running on 0w20

and high octane doest worth it ..

Countries such as the US where they have higher temperatures then us run as low as 0w8. 0w20 will not destroy your alto. A good synthetic oil will resist breakdown and evaporation. Most 0w20's offered in Pakistan have HTHS around 3.0 which is very good.

Toyota dynamic force engines such as the A25A-FKS that comes in the xv70 and xv80 camry can use 0w8. The M20A-FKS that also comes in the camry, corolla e210 and other models use 0w8. Especially after 2022.

Ill be going for my 20,000 km oil change. Been using 10w40 so far. What do you guys suggest, switching to 0w20 or 5w30 or staying with 10w40. Need a good suggestion. Thank you.

Use 0w20. Your engine is still new.

I have used 0W20 once, and my engine had some sound in the morning. The vehicle was at the time less than 15k driven. In my opinion and for our extreme summers, 0W20 is too thin to lubricate the engine, especially if you go to higher RPMs frequently. I am not a 100% sure of the oil viscosity because AGS is said to have other weird noises in the morning, coming from ags etc. I have since moved to 5w30 and I am now satisfied. Only ran for 3 months on the 10w40. The above is my take on it, and others may differ. The performance of my car and feul economy are phenomenal.
