I suggest you to find any good car 2008 model or later but make sure it have factory Power Steering and Power Windows. Although you can add it later but I think factory fitted are better in terms of reliability.

I think its called VXL variant.

My first Car was Cultus 2008 EFI, what a Car it was although I upgraded to Vitz but still miss it. Only reason was to sell if because it does not have Power windows/steering and I don't want to make tweaks in that rest for me the best value to money Car for family using is Cultus 2008.

It's been a while.

Update;

Car has been running wonderfully. Getting gas mileage of 13-14kmpl without ac in city and 11-12kmpl with ac in city. Long averages out very easily to 15-17kmpl if I am veryyy consistent with the accelerator.

Cultus sounds great, pep and pick up have improved, running on optimum temp. With caltex coolant. I am yet to check the spark plugs, last they were checked was posted here.

Now, oil change is a little close. I have been using 10w30, now I was wondering if I should go down to 5w30? My only cause for concern is cold starts. Right now with 10w30, cold starts are kinda rough, but smooth out very nicely as the car gets up to temp. I know 5w30 should help with cold starts but I'm wondering if 5w is too thin and I'll hear the ticking of the tappets until the car warms up?

What do you guys think? 5w30 or stick with 10w30? I want to go fully synthetic, so company recommendations please.

P;S gear oil needs to be changed, please recommend gear oil too (75w80 is what ill be putting in)

5w30 gets upto temps slightly faster than 10w30. No difference in viscosity. 5w30 is available in full synthetic form which from personal experience is much better on these engines.

I'm using 5w30 caltex havoline pro ds. engine sound in smooth. idle should not be rough even with 10w30 these days. maybe your auto choke doesn't work. manually accelerate to 1.5k rpm first first minute.
For gear oil, zic gear ff 75w85 is a good choice. add 2.5litre. not more than 2.6, not less than 2.4

Alrighty then, spent big bucks on the car. Went to irshad for gear oil leak from seals, ended up getting clutch replaced too. (FCC Clutch set) New gear oil 75w85 zic. Clutch and pick feel great, as does the gearshift, butter smooth! Also got some misc bearings and seal related to the gearbox replaced.

Got brakes done too, brake was leaking in the rear drums apparently and pads were completely worn out. I wanted Frixa but Irshad's guys didn't know if it and ended up going for some other Japanese ones.

Now, my only concern-ish is speed and pick (while improved drastically) I need to know if there's room for improvement. With a total of 4 adult passengers and some minor luggage my cultus can hit 120kmph with air conditioning on. 130kmph too, if there's a descent and the wind direction is right. But it is very difficult to go further than that. The speedometer goes all the way to 200 (which is obviously not my goal) but how close can I get? I've heard of carbureted cultus getting to 160, whats the fastest you've ever gone?

But don't think about going above 120 km/h it is illegal.

Hey there,

So, I'll be getting my oil changed sometime next month. I'm currently using 10w30 caller mineral formula. I was planning on gong for 5w30 Caltex pro ds fully synthetic. But I already know my engine is taking w30 just fine, there has been no oil reduction so far and I've covered some odd 1500kms. I was thinking, is it worth experimenting and going for 5w20 instead? Or should I play it safe and stick with 5w30? Is 5w20 too thin? idk, I'm feeling brave. What do you guys think??

AOA folks... I have cuore 2010/11 ...now its reducing oil and mechanic says i have to install the new rings...plus its Ac isn't working well... i have heard that cultus Efi (2011 and other new models) has a better air conditioning system and its oil consumption is good too...i need your valuable feedback... Please guide me...

Alrighty peeps, a question for those who have functioning auto chokes. (or have owned the car since new)

How's it work?

I got mine repaired recently as part of a carburetor service. Car still does not start on first self (like it does but immediately stalls because of no rpm, unless I start with slightly pressing the accelerator ) When it does, it idles pretty smooth on cold starts too but idles on 1k rpm, unless I slightly accelerate to 1.5k rpm which is where it idles, but that doesn't automatically disengage when the car warms up, I have to flick the accelerator so it manually disengages. Not sure what the issue is now?

What I really wanted was it to act like any other car, self start on first self, idle rpm slowly rise to 1.4k rpm and then slowly come down to idle as engine warms up. So far, it ain't doing none of that. Justing cold start idling at 1.4 manually, (I have to get it up there and get it down)

Any idea how I can fix this myself instead of taking it back to a carb guy?

I fell like an educated guess could be the coil in the black auto choke thing is struggling due to expansion due to heat etc? What do you guys think?

How the choke works in carby cultus

1- In the morning at cold start, turn the ignition on but not on full. Depress the accelerator paddle twice or thrice all way the floor. Remember car hasn't started as yet. Crank the engine. Ideally it should start in first self
2- Auto Choke engages immediately and raises the rpm. It keeps the RPM increased, not slowly or softly but rather instantaneously.
3- when the desired temperature is achieved ( desired by the driver, not the car, it doesn't have any ecu), gently pushing the accelerator disengages autochoke And RPM declines.
