MashaAllah Mubarak Ho bhai bohat saaf suthri gari mili hai .. good to see that. Enjoy the ride, fuel avg. bhi ala de rahi hai. I also have Swift 2013 manual gear used (abused) li thi : ) gives me around 11-12 in Lahore with liiiiiiiight foot and 16 on Motorway under speed limits.

sallam... i tested out the way as you had recommended... i filled full tank after the reserve light got on and it got full with 33.06 liters.. in which case i assume after the empty light comes on the fuel tank still holds 10 liters as the manual states that the fuel tank capacity for swift is 43 liters. After refueling the car ran for 378 km and then the empty light came up; this way 378/33.06 = 11.43 which is still not a bad average considering the traffic conditions in Karachi and i am still running the ac as well... i refueled full this time it filled for 33.09 on auto stop lets see how 2nd full tank runs.

so... the second full tank ran 411 km so that would be 12.42 per liter.. (411/33.09). the changes this time was

1. new plugs (as on inspection plugs were not in a good state)
2. new air filter (previous one was too clogged up)
3. didnt exceed the car over 3000 rpm average speed this time was between 60 to 100 with ac

as the car is auto it is only being run on high-ocatne

Bro why are you running it on hi octane. Normal engines aren’t meant for that fuel. Does more harm than good in the long run.

Anyway the increased mileage is also because of hi octane.. it also costs more than normal fuel.

I thought it’s a good mileage if doing it on normal fuel.

Bro as i remember for automatic swift its written in its manual (or fuel cap) to drive on hi octane only

Ok that’s odd didn’t know that, for same engine why would they write that. Doesn’t make any sense. Probably we had bad fuel back in the day but it would really affect both versions.

it's written to use only Ron 97 on the fuel cap for automatic... also same is mentioned in the user manual

difference in high octane is not much.. it's only 10rs higher if you use pso

Right but I don’t think it’s based on any valid logic. Engine is the same. Transmission wouldn’t really matter. Maybe Suzuki was smoking something back in early 2010s. I went into old swift threads and folks back in the day also couldn’t make sense of it.

Maybe @Xulfiqar knows something why manual version would use normal fuel but hi octane is mentioned for the auto variant in Swift.

I'm also curious about Suzuki recommending the RON 97 in automatic variant as I'm considering purchasing one, unlike the manual variant which I already own has become a nightmare driving in Karachi.
Nowadays, there doesn't seem to be any company that has petrol available with RON more than 95, and some companies don't claim what RON their petrol has. If that's the case, Suzuki should consider recalling the automatic variant regarding the software update (if that's even possible, or if they even care).

HOBC or Hi-Octane is basically ron 97 compliant.

i think even if the engines are the same their ecu's are programmed differently as one has manual transmission and the other is automatic; manual has 5 gears while auto has 4; even their gear ratios are also different. Maybe that's the reason for difference in fuel for manual and automatic,

I think your car has a hydraulic reservior for serving the clutch. please check if its topped up with the requisite oil.

get its clutch slave cylinder checked / replaced. My car's clutch was also getting hard and unresponsive in extreme traffic jams, but since the change of slave cylinder, now it's working fine and not giving any problems.. i got it sourced from Bilal Gunj Lahore (used of course) for 7000 rupees through Autospot. pk lahore
