Yes. A year ago when I purchased my swift which was used. I went to Suzuki Mini Motors to get my bumper fixed as it was slightly lose. After getting that done. I asked a mechanic to have a look at the car etc and give me a verdict of the condition of the car as I had only checked it with my trusted mechanic before purchasing and not from an actual Suzuki engineer.
He started the car and checked a few things and after that gave me a verdict that it's alright. I thanked him and sat back in the back and as soon as I started the car to leave. Lo and Behold..the engine light was on.
I was furious.
This was the first time I had seen my engine light come up.
The engineer denied tampering with the car but was not able to explain why this had not happened before at all. After making them bring the scanner tool (which they tried their level best to charge me for) they said it was an issue with oxygen sensor and nothing wrong with the engine. I did not pay for any checks because to this day I still believe the mechanic had done something deliberately just to turn the light on.
The fix however was to unplug the battery and turn it back on after a few minutes which felt like the most paindo and irresponsible thing to do but they said it's fine to do that and it works. A few days later the light came back on.
Long story short is I unplugged and re plugged the battery twice after that over the period of two weeks and since then the light has never turned back on and car has been running fine Alhumdullilah.
Every time I start the car all the lights work just fine and so its not a case of the light being blown completely or whatever.
