it is important to change the gear oil...my car is done almost 6500 km and i dont change the gear oil?

The Suzuki dealer told me that Company recommends that gear oil should also be changed at 5,000km then at 40,000km.

My Swift got the 5,000km service last week (even though the odo was only 4,018km) but six months were about to come to an end and the dealer told me that the free 5,000km service coupon won't be valid after six months.

I am going to go in for the 5000kms service this weekend. I am going to have the following done.

Oil Changed to Mobil 1 fully synthetic (its 5w-50 i think)
Coolant changed to caltex red
Gear Oil - any suggestions??
plugs to NGK iridiums (what about suzuki genuine iridiums? doesn't swift already have those?)
Oil filter change - ? genuine or aftermarket?

I need your recommendations/suggestions on the above choices. has any one installed aftermarket filters/intakes??

at 3500 km iwill change the change oil to caltex havoline
at 5000 km i will change the gear oil with zic
at 5000 km the default spark plugs are tunned by lowering/minimizing their gaps. bt at 5200 km i feel my swifty hard to drive. again i went to central mtrs wrkshop, i feel really surprised that the spark plugs gap is again more than default gap. again gap was adjusted.
at 5400 km the same problem continues, i visit to wrkshp and order them to throw out these plugs out of my car and installed new ones. bcz it will waste my time by visiting every week for plugs. new plugs then installed (NGK as mentioned in mannual)
after this i got a beeter sleep. lol. mean i got good pick and fuel economy.
bt the most imp thing at 5700 km i got new denso iridium ik20 plugs for my swifty which cost me 4000. now i feel that i m driving a sport version swift, the pick is great, quick response, gud fuel economy, aur kia bhaagti hai gari meri ab. i recommend u also for iridium plugs. these plugs also a long life of almost 100k.
as quote by sdogar dnt change the coolant. if needed do it urself.

From where you got ik20 their cost was 3400, I bought 5 month ago.. They can't be used for 100k, I think good for 25k.

I ended up going for liqui moli synthoil high tech 5w-40
Gear Oil was Zic FF with Liqui Moli additive tube
i didnt change the coolant as it didnt seem diluted. will def change it at 10K or even sooner. its the green one but i dont know any trusted green brands so i dont want to top-up with those
Also couldnt find specification plugs and right now i am running the stock plugs (not iridium)

Initial impressions are a much smoother gear box and ride! the car feels different. i also got the dealer to finally open the rear trim and get rid of the noise

since a fresh off service car always feels better, i will update in a few weeks on the performance and consumption.

my swifty got fuel consumption problem since i bought it. after installing ik20 iridium plugs my swifty has better pick and aceleration and a fuel milage of 9 in city with ac. bt after 2000 km its average goes down to 8.2 to 8.5 and smetimes more less then this.
i have nw installed its default plugs of ngk purchased new frm central mtrs at 7200 kms. lets see wht happens nw.
bt tell me that sme of u people wrote that ur swift has a fuel economy of 12-13 in city and 14-15 in long. i dnt knw why my swifty do this even i m not a fast driver, nt driving in high rpms nt more then 2k-3k. and sme people also have iridium plugs in their swifts and got more better economy. then why not my ride do this??????????????????

oh sorry. yup its for 25k. i have arranged it frm one guy and it costs me 4000.

I don't know why are you getting this average. I got my average improved after the installation of ik20 and now never got anything below 12.5

with AC 12.5 or without AC in city??
how u measure ur car fuel average? tell me ur method
from where u got ik20 plugs?
from where u installed these plugs?
is gap of these plugs adjusted before installation?
before these plugs whts ur car average on default plugs?

I was also getting 8-9 kmpl on my 7500km driven swift keeping rpm max to 3k rpm, stock plugs. I used to redline occassionally too when in the mood
Now im getting 11-12 easy.
What did i do?
I started ALWAYS keeping revs absolutely below 2000rpm , and the occassional hard drive the same.
Changing shift from 3000 to 2000 rpm made a HUGE difference. Also, i changed to caltex and pso, never use shell, maybe the shell petrol pump on my route is bad. And get plugs checked, ignition timing set.

Conclusively, shift at 2k, use caltex. Occassional hard drive is fine. My personal and honest opinion however stupid or insignificant it ay sound, these newer small engines consume a lot when driven hard.

Average is measured by filling the tank full and noting the reading, then car is driven and again the tank is filled full. Now average will be obtained by dividing the distance traveled by the fuel quantity to make the tank full (I get the fuel tank filled on auto).
I get this average with ac, without ac it is always above 13.5.
I got denso ik20 from jz of pakwheels in Lahore.
Gap of these plugs is already as per standard so no need to get them adjusted.
Use fully synthetic oil like caltex havoline or zic xq 5w40, keep the air filter clean and keep the air pressure 33 front 30 rear and drive as mentioned above and it must improve. Also get the fuel setting checked by suzuki obd tool, hope it helps

swift has 42 litre tank. in half tank i mean in 21 litres it will gave me 175-180 km in city with AC.
i will use caltex petrol and caltex engine oil.
you have mentioned obd tool setting..
my next question is also related to this tool.
in central motors the mechanic also reset my settings using this tool at 4500kms.
after that i will get even more worst economy then before.
i even told him abt this that wht u have done. bt he said he has done right. nothng to worry about.
bt i think that obd setting is not correct for my car setted by mechanic. he just reset it.
i dnt know wht i do now. because i have changed plugs 3 times.

Measure fuel economy by method I mentioned and then tell the average. Get the obd scan from some other shop also. There is no need to reset if there is no issue.
I think you should not panic much about fuel economy it will improve.

let me chk who hve ths obd meter. i dnt thnk so tht other shops hve ths tool. i thnk these 3s suzuki dealers only have ths too

Auto means filling should be stopped when petrol filling is stopped by machine automatically.

I meant check some other suzuki workshop.

how many kms u get in city with ac in full tank?
