Paksuzuki has not sold any imported Swift's in Pakistan. Local production of the Suzuki swift had already started several months before launch and local vendors were also given part orders well in advance of the release. Labeling the PakSuzuki swift as an imported CBU was a selling tactic used by dealers.
for 1300cc cars duty alone is US$10,000 - add that to the invoice of zero meter Swift in Japan which is at least another 10,000 US$. Add transport cost, marine insurance, and other charges. Will Paksuzuki sell the Swift at 70-80 percent loss ? Simply not possible. All the Swift's sold in Pakistan (starting from the first one) are made from imported CKD parts (which the company can import on low duty) + local parts.
Also, the JDM swift has:
1. retractable mirrors,
2. airbags,
3. pretensioner seatbelts,
4. rear wiper + washer,
5. trunk light,
6. climate control (optional),
7. headlight leveling
8. isofix seats
9. shopping hooks
10. information display (temperature + fuel economy meter)
and other features missing from the local Swift.
