URGENT I have 2012 Model Swift DX. It is reducing water in bottle. daily about half liter. I drive for 50 KM daily in Lahore. I have checked there is no leakage. is it normal in very hot weather or should i do something?
Are you using water or coolant?
Use coolant
i was using coolant but as it is reducing now i am adding water to it. on daily basis. Machanic checked but he could not find any leakage
Half a litte is no small thing. Either your car is leaking or burning it.Get your car thoroughly checked for leaks if there is none, radiator thermostat valve & water pump are Ok then you need to replace head gasket which can b expensive.
But my car is not getting over heat, coolant is not boiling or making bubbles, So should i get to check thermostat valve, and water pump.
automatic transition below 1600 cc gives same phenomenon of less power.
it is normal.my 2016 DLX reduces the coolant as well. last week at 40,000 KM I got it replace with fresh coolant but reducing phenomenon remains same.
There's a tiny leakage somewhere in the cooling system. Sometimes, there is a pin hole somewhere in the pipes and it's not detectable at cold engine and sometimes even at hot temperatures because of the location of the leakage. Have it checked before it becomes a bigger problem.
It proves models of swift after 2013 have quality issues
Anyone installed Kumho Solos tyres on swift?
I got checked from many mechanics but they could not trace the leakage. I worried that I have to go on a long trip on EID please let me know about any good mechanic in Lahore, who can check cooling system
Why don't you visit the dealership and get this checked. They charge more but will probably save you money in the long run.
ok i will visit today
This is alarming. May be it's something to do with the quality of the coolant suzuki uses. Has anyone tried using toyota or honda coolants in their swift? They are both long life coolants and last years.
Same happened to my car. There is an issue otherwise car should not reduce water/coolant at all. Check radiator, radiator fans, thermostat valve, water pump, heater core, lines & pipes. If you find no issue then you have a bad headgasket.
Charges for a cooling system check on 3s is just Rupees 300 and whole system would be pressurized and checked, like how much car sustains the pressure during peak temperature. Auto fan timing would also be checked along with, the temperature zone where fan should click ON .That's one ultimate cooling system test which every car owner should go through in summer every year.
Suzuki coolant lasts easily for 40,000 kms.
the thing i was missing was heater core. leakage was there. now my car is fine.
Glad your problem is resolved. Thanks for letting us know. Going to the dealership saves a lot of hassle.
